it's both in the amateurs....with so little time you need to land quality punches and stay busy enough to keep the other fighter from from getting his/her points as well....gotta throw between 70-100 punches per round minimum....
It feels good to be back home.

Scoring punches are more important, its a mix of quality and quantity.

The judges count the scoring shots but they could decide that the shots yuo are throwing and landing arent forcefull enough to count

With the computer scoring that is used in amutuer boxing today quantity is what it is all about.

You might lanned the hardest punch of the fight and you can only score 1 point for it or you can land a feather duster of a shot that would not crack an egg and you will still score 1 point for it.

There are no extra points for agreesion or knock downs in amuture boxing so it is best to be a skilled boxer that lands clean shots that the judges can see.

Hard punchers are not suted to amature boxing these days.

Qty. thats why they have those white spots on the gloves to see if that area touches the opponent in any way and simply with that your awarded points, regardless on the quality of the punch....

today they only count the torso and head EG Chest, stomache sides in front....And head shots need to move the head to count...there has to be a visible movement caused by the punch for the point....

Thats it in therory. In reality it depends a lot on the judge, but more or less,if it lands,it scores.

WTF? Are we talking about the quantity of punches thrown or the quantity of punches landing? If the later, then quality is academic. It's all about quantity.
