To be honest as much as I love Roach as a trainer I don't think he's been all that impressive of late.
The despondency in the Toney corner from round 1 of his rematch with Peter was papable, Roach and Blanks just looked well....blank.
They barely gave Toney any encouragement or advise, it was as if all three of them were lacklustre that night.
No doubt he's done some great work with Manfredo but I think the poor kid must be devastated right now that he's facing Calzaghe without him.
It will give Justine Fortune a chance to showcase himself a little though.
As for training Oscar, the golden one can have all of God's angels in his corner and be carried into the ring by cherubs and seraphim but it won't make any difference.

bilbo, I would be despondent as trainer as well if my fighter continued to comes into big fights a fat a**. You can sometimes blame your trainer for not being prepared...but that's not the case with Toney. As far as what he can do for Oscar...in all honesty...Oscar has been in this business for long enough, has been involved in many big fights, and is smart enough...not to need to depend heavily on his trainer. The biggest thing for Roach is to get Oscar into really great shape. Oscar needs to be really fit for this match. But i agree....most likely Floyd will dance his way to a UD. But if Floyd even loses concentration for a bit...Oscar could rock his world. Oscar is not Gatti, Baldomir, Mitchell or even Judah. Even at this stage of his career, he is a skilled enough fighter to punish Floyd badly if Floyd makes any mistakes.
