    ******PLEASE EVEN IF I COOLCLICK YOU DONT COOLCLICK ME ON THIS THREAD, I DONT WANT IT TO TURN INTO A SHAMELESS COOLCLICK PROMOTION FOR ME, THIS IS ALL ABOUT MY BEAUTIFUL BABY SISTER. I COOLCLICK YOU GUYS ONLY CAUSE THATS ALL I CAN GIVE YOU FOR YOUR HELP******

    THANK YOU

    Alright this is pretty serious and as odd as this may seem to be posting help here on a boxing forum, the doctor asked us to diligently do research on our own.....

    My 20 year old baby sister got diagnosed with a low blood pressure condition, the doctors(She has a Cardiologist and and Endochronoligist) call it a "Phenomenon" because there is only 117 (GIRLS ONLY) ranging from 18-27 who have this condition IN our area, she is a patient at the UCONN Medical health center which is a top notch facility...

    Now when I tell you this keep in mind she is a healthy and intelligent college student(UCONN) that leads a normal happy life she is very health and nutritious conscience ... she has been run through a battery of tests for the past 6 mos ranging from Cancer, Heart disease and all the other common afflictions that may plague the masses but she is completely healthy 100%.

    The doctor tells us its a neurological problem, basically her brains not communicating with her heart correctly to tell it to beat normally... because of this her body will not retain sodium at all she is diuretic and pisses alot of vital nutrients out of her body.... She cant lift anything heavy, or have heavy exertion.

    The weird thing is they have all the answers and medicine for high blood pressure but nothing for low.... We are researching natural foods and supplements per the doctors orders... The doctor suggested a brand of licorice that is from Scotland that will raise your blood pressure naturally.. Its kind of funny most health food stores don't carry that brand cause its known to raise your blood pressure, you should of seen the look on the guys face when we told him thats why we wanted it.... So we are obtaining the Licorice as a start.

    Her heart beats so slow its scary the possible complications of this is unthinkable for me cause its almost a certainty that it can lead to stroke and can be fatal.

    The most frustrating thing about this is that the doctors dont know how to treat her, they tied a bunch of things like steroids and other things but nothing is working yet..

    Please I'm asking you to keep this thread serious and any experience you might have or anybody you know with the same condition or any ideas about supplements I am open to anything.

    Thanks JT

    Also if it is possible maybe a Mod could sticky this for me so its fresh in everybodys mind

    Hey JT sorry about your little sister. I dont know much about this, but have taken some biology/neuroscience courses and am kind of a health person.

    Obviously, exercising will raise blood pressure. You said she can't lift any thing heavy, but probably some moderated exercise 3-4 days a week would help.

    Also, found that these herbs will help raise blood pressure:

    * Bitter orange
    * Ephedra (ma-huang)
    * Ginseng
    * Licorice
    * St. John's wort

    You can find Ginseng and St. John's Wort at basically any health food, supplement place. Could likely find all of them at vitaminshoppe.com or gnc.com

    But if it's a neurological problem then I dont know how much supplements would do. How low is her blood pressure and has she ever fainted or anything b/c of it?

    Should probably mention to her that blood pressure drops during the first 24 weeks of pregnancy. Just in case she gets any ideas

    When you have an "unsolveable" condition that regular medicine does not know how to address, I have found that chiropractic or acupuncture have given folks I know great and sometimes unexpected outcomes. Chiropractors deal with the nervous system, so I don't see why this might not be an option for your sister. Interview people that currently are using a chiropractor to find the one that would work best for her. Acupuncture also may benefit, but I don't personally know as much off hand about this.
    It feels good to be back home.

Its tough to see her going thru this at 20... she is absolutely adorable and is TRULY a good girl no booze or drugs and has a real good moral sense... She down plays this whole thing and is just going with it.. Meanwhile the rest of the family is stressed an I'm cut to the heart by this....

    Hey JT, good luck with finding a solution man.

    I just found this rather interesting page on google.

    http://www.bpassoc.org.uk/informatio...d_pressure.htm

    http://www.medicinenet.com/low_blood...re/article.htm

    I'm sure she will be ok she'l just have to take better care of herself than an ordinary person does.

    I had cancer for three years and have been left with damaged lungs, muscular myalgia, underactive thyroid gland and a general all around feeling of shitness. But I walk 10 miles a week, cycle 12 and eat well and am doing fine.

    It's just about taking care of your body and being aware. It's never nice to be diagnosed with an illness but in all honesty I consider some of my beer drinking, smoking, drug taking, curry eating, non exercising mates to be at more of a health risk than me.

    They abuse their bodies as they don't think anything is wrong with them but when they hit 40 they will no doubt start to reap the bad harvest of years of abuse.

    Your sister, as she is aware of the fact she needs to take better care of herself may conversely end up being more healthy than her friends as time goes on.

    for caring about your sister by the way

    Hey man sorry to here this. I'm Scottish so just say the word and I'll source the stuff and send it over. Although that won't get to the bottom of the problem. I'll do some digging around for you and see what's out there.

    Cure For Low Blood Pressure

    nutrition and malnutrition are two most important causes of low blood pressure. Malnutrition arises because of the lack of enough calories, proteins, vitamins B and vitamin C. Some other cause of low blood pressure may include- loss of blood and emotional instability.

    Low blood pressure can be treated in various ways. Here are some ways to achieve hypotension cure:

    Beetroot
    By drinking the juice of beetroot you can control your low blood pressure. For better results, patients are recommend to drink a cup of this juice, twice daily. Considerable improvement is guaranteed.

    Indian Spikenard
    Indian spikenard is also a very effective home remedy for the treatment of low blood pressure. It is usually taken in doses of thirty to forty grains. Always take a pinch of a little camphor and cinnamon with this herb. Don't miss out on it. You can also prepare the concoction by steeping 15 to 20 gm of the herb in 250 ml of boiling water. Once it is prepared take it thrice a day.

    Epsom Salts Bath
    It is know as the one of the simplest remedy for treating low blood pressure. It is prepared in the ordinary bath of hot water by dissolving almost one and half kg of commercial Epsom Salt. The patients are advised to remain dipped in the bath for ten to twenty minutes. For best results, it is strongly recommended to be taken just before retiring to bed. And remember, there is a possibility of catching cold so, take care of it.

    here you go bro and i wish her the best and cc hope everything works out
