Thread: Is Great Britian the USA big brother

For some reason Great Britian hates the USA or at least the citizens but why is this. The USA has taken the Britian blue print and ran with it, it just had more resourses at it's disposal than the UK. So why would the UK hate the USA. I am of Brazilian decent but I consider myself American because I was born here, but the beef between the two country's is puzzling to me. The two consider themselves allies but American's are treated like shit when going to Europe and vice verca over here.



I alway's wondered why American's are hated in Europe, but one day when I was watching sweet 16 (don't laugh at me bestp4p) I saw a little white American girl fly 9 hours too Paris with her rich daddy. They get to Paris and hire a personal stylist. The French woman tries her best too help the girl buy a dress but the girl does not like anything she show's them. Finally the girl ask does she have something American style ( I started to think why the fuck would you fly to Paris for something American) but the girl say's "no honey you are in Paris", so they fire the French stylist and move on. If this is how American's treat Euro's than I can see why they would be disliked. But without a doubt the US got it's blueprint from Great Britian.

I don't make grand political staments, country's are run by money hungry men that are focused on their own pockets, but to go off of your statement people felt that way long before this guy was elected into office, so you may want to eleborate on your statement. Second off why are you focusing on the little girl or the dress genius. You were suppose to focus on the way the American treated the French lady, I guess that one ran right past you.

Brits are no where near as hated as much as American are when they go to Europe.

1. You buy all American music
2. You buy all American movies
3. American clothing
etc etc

This is all across the world not just in Britian. American rap music is the number one seller in America now you have British people into hip hop.

We will tell the big county's in the world to stop being proud of winning in the olympics (China, Russia, US even my beloved Brazil)

You admire the American elite such as actors, musicians, entertainers and despise the little person such as the common citizen and minorities. That is not fair I tell you that much.

We do agree on one thing and that is the American government, or at least this one in office now.

spot on, as much as we hate to admit it we fucking LOVE American culture. I'm telling ya the Simpsons is more popular per person in the UK than it is the USA, and part of that is down to the influence that british humour has had on american comedy but its also to do with the fact we can't get enough of American culture! We were raised on Rock n Roll, Jazz, Hip Hop, Coca Cola, Porno, Hollywood, Beef Jerky, and people saying "have a nice day" and stupid shit like that when you get served. We can't get enough of it!

Culturally the United States is a fucking phenomenon. Go look through your CD's and see how many of them are American. How many of the last films you saw are american? Never forgot how much America has given the world culturally. America is like an experiment, still in its early stages, there's been no nation on earth like it before and therefore it has enriched the world in completely unusual and unique ways.

I lived in Boston for a while and they loved me, everyone was dead polite and nice and thought my accent was cute. I speak with a coarse variety of Yorkshire accent, but put on the fake posh accent and the women LOVE IT!! The only yanks I've ever got any shit off are the wannabe irish ones, the one's who've lived in the USA 6 generations and yet seem to think that they're allowed to hate the english coz of some insignificant irish heritage. Its funny really, being yanks they have little or no idea of the world beyond their own borders, but are vaguely aware of some animosity between the english and the irish so feel the need to make something of it, not realising that NO-ONE GIVES A FUCK about it all over here. Other than that Americans are lovely people, but I've never been anywhere in Red State america so it could be different down there.

Having said that the Deep South is probably different, but I still wanna go there. I wanted to see New Orleans really badly when I was younger, it was one on my ambitions, and its fucked up that its STILL a disaster zone and that really pains me. I watched Spike Lee's When the Levee's Broke recently and nothing has made me as angry as that film, heads need to roll for what happened down there, and it really hurts to see that cit in the state its in. The worst bit is they're just gonna bulldoze the slums and build big fake tourist traps and shit like that to get the tourists back, ruining the atmosphere of the place. Gutting.

There's a lot of things to dislike though. There's been too much yanky arse kissing here so lets change tone. Rampant capitalist individualism that isn't good for the well-being of the nation, I mean could you ever imagine how shit it'd be without an NHS? There'd be riots if they ever tried to got rid of that in this country, and yet over in America there aint none!! How does that stand ideologically, I mean I know there's a right-wing edge to US politics but thats just basic human rights to have healthcare, to deprive 40 million people of their health is really bad.

There's also a nasty puritannical streak running through the country too, thats reflected in the conservatism that you get outside the big cities. Not political conservatism, just a general resistance to change and a stagnant atmosphere. I've not seen too much of small-town mid-western america, but it seems a very conservative place. Things like abortion, safe sex, gayness, observance of the sabbath, alcohol and drugs prohibition, I mean I don't want to sound patronising but America really is 20 or 30 years behind Europe on those issues, all down to the puritannical heritage. In Boston people were just like at home, but outside the city is changes a lot.

As for Bush, well fuck me thats just too bad for words. There's nothing I could say to describe how much I hate him that wouldn't make me sound like a nutcase. Put it this way I felt physically sick the morning I woke up and found out he'd been re-elected. You lot are going to be apolgizing every time you go abroad for the next 25 years coz of that cunt.

right america might have gone with this british 'blueprint' as you say but then act as if they invented it, this arrogance when it comes to military power and also financial strength which i see as a major reason why 9/11 happened perhaps due to jealousy of those living in countrys much poorer than america.

some more reason for britain to hate america

1) friendly fire - for fuck sake why does this go on tanks marked as friendly being attacked by american fighter jets is an obvious reason for anamosity between the two countrys
2) there is simply no subtlty in america, and a view of why talk when you can shout
3)ignorance - ask the vast majority of british people about basic american culture sport,tv etc and youd get a reply but in america do the same regarding british culture they would look at u as if you had come off another planet

This is difficult for me, somebody should have to go to jail for that, but the pilots asked the asshole from radio control were they any friendly's in the area and the dumbass said no, they still should have been hesitant about the hit. But remember that American pilots have shot at there on troops to due to friendly fire confusion on more than one occassion during this war.

jbirdy all I am saying is is that I don't want my British brothers to hate me. In all of Europe (not just Great Britian) America's elite such as actors, musicians, and entertainers in all fields get glamourized and idolized in Europe, they go over their with the heads held high cocky, arrogant, narcissitic (I spelled that wrong) and everybody loves them, than the working class man such as myself can go over there and get treated like shit, called and imperialist, asshole, jerk, bloody fuck and all kind of exotic names and I have contributed nothing to the persona of America that you hate but the people that they idolize contribute all the traits of the thing's you hate to America. I've never had anyone from the UK hate me for being American. I've never heard an American walking down the street or at a social gathering say anything bad about the UK.

I know more people that dislike Canadains.
