    Default ricardo "el matador" mayorga

weather you love him or hate him one things for sure you'll never forget him why because he always came to fight and as a result gave us some enjoyable fights, some interesting in ring tactics, some unfogivable prefight interviews and comments

do you think boxing at the moment needs a charecter like mayorga and would you like to see mayorga main event in a world title fight again- does he have any viewing power

There will always be those who tune in to a Mayorga fight just to see him get his ass beat another night.
He's like a movie villain in a superhero movie.
You know he's gonna lose in the end, but you wanna see it happen anyways. You wanna see your hero succeed over this guy.
Put him in with a complete nobody and people won't care though. That'd be like "Skeletor vs. Random Beast 718: THE MOVIE". Nobody cares. Or "He-Man vs. Skeletor's henchman: THE MOVIE". Nobody cares. But people will always tune in to see He-Man give a royal ass beating to Skeletor.
Mayorga's a good villain. I don't wanna see him fight in main events in this age where top fighters only fight a couple times a year. A Mayorga fight just hinders possible better matchups. But I like to see him take a beating.

Meowza, this seems very sadistic from someone who's name sounds like the noise kittens make..minus the za of course

I really started to like Mayorga after the Tito fight. Of course, I usually find myself rooting for the "villain" nowadays. He's one of the most entertaining figures in the sport definitely deserves more $$ than the meager sums Don King has been giving him all these years. He's so ego-machismo-crazy to the extreme AND hilarious. Love the guy!

Mayorga is a motherfukin Pimp! I love the guy, he's fukin savage. And he does not always lose I seem to recall him whippin Andrew "Six Heads" Lewis, Vernon Forrest and Michelle Picarillo, all former world champs. He can still headline fights and beat top fighters. I would not hesitate to say he would KO Vargas if and when they fight. I also think that he should get back down to 147 and could take Cintron's belt if he so desired. He could make noise again at welterweight if he has the desire to get back down there where he fukin belongs instead of fighting above his best weight class. And yes, he ALWAYS makes great fights.

Im not even going to bother debating Mayorgas ability or status as a fighter, we've gone down that road... Ill simply remind you that he was caught using a banned duiretic to make weight for the DLH fight at 154. No way will he ever go back down to welter, if he doesn't retire entirely.

I'm wiling to wager that A LOT of top fighters use dieretics to make weight. Funny how Gatti used to gain 15 plus lbs over night isn't it? Or Cotto's gaining upwards of 10 lbs over night? You think that is all natural? Open your eyes man. Mayorga did nothing differnt from most top fighters, he just got caught thats all. And I believe that if he dedicated himself he could get back down to 147.

YES! Thats what I'm fukin talking bout! CC for that statement. Also do you know how close the fight is to being made? I read an article saying it was in the works about a month ago, then I've heard nothing more. I pray that fight gets made.

Last I heard (even after the whole Mayorga jail incident) the fight hasn't been signed but it's a 90% yes and about 10% no....
Chances look good BUT remember nothings guaranteed in this sport.

Lets hope so! And all Mayorga got in trouble for was his illegal street racing stuff right? It was no big deal legally the way I understood it. Anyway this fight makes sense for both Mayorga and Vargas so I can definately see it coming to fruition. Till then though I will have my fingers crossed.

He bought a few cars with a 'check' but didn't have the necessary funds/money in the account.....

Mayorga is Finished. An entertaining boxer but what else is there for him to do. Potentially a match with Vargas but would that be it.
