Current undisputed welterweight champion, Floyd Mayweather, said that he might not retire after his May 5 mega fight with Oscar De La Hoya if he can secure a fight with Britain’s light welterweight superstar, Ricky Hatton. “That’s the fight that I’ve wanted since I destroyed Gatti, but Ricky didn’t want it then, from what I’m hearing now he wants a piece of Pretty Boy [Floyd]. I’m willing to stay out of retirement to get that fight,” Mayweather said. Hatton, coming off of a lopsided decision against former light welterweight titlist, Juan Urango, is now setting his sights on fighting Jose Luis Castillo in late June for the time being. “I want to make the fight in the fall me’self but I have to focus me attention on Jose Luis Castillo right now,” Hatton said. “I took me’self some rugged body shots last fight and Jose is an extremely proficient body puncher so I have to put me focus in preparing myself for war. Mayweather will still be there when I’m done with Castillo.” Hatton briefly did a tour of duty at welterweight in 2006 before dropping back to the light welterweight division in January 2007.
Mayweather, on the other hand, is moving up to the light middleweight division to face, WBC champion and boxing’s most popular figure, Oscar De La Hoya. “I’m the best fighter ever and on May 5, I’m gonna turn the Golden Boy into a heap of scrap metal. He knows it. I’m gonna punish him for not hiring my dad,” Mayweather said. “Oscar ain’t never beat an elite fighter. If you can’t beat Shane Mosley, then you sure as hell can’t beat Pretty Boy [Floyd],” Mayweather proclaimed. “I know why he’s being so cheap with his money this time, he’s punishing everyone now for the beating that he knows he’s gonna receive. He’s not gonna be able to make no money after this fight because I’m gonna expose his fraud [expletive] on three million television sets. I’m not Mayorga, I’m talking the talk, and on May 5, I’m gonna walk the walk all over Oscar’s face,” Mayweather exclaimed.
Mayweather continued, “And when I’m done melting the Golden Boy down, I’m gonna make a chain out of him, wear it to Wembley Stadium, and give little Ricky the beatdown that he claims he’s ready for in front of his entire fanbase.” “I absolutely love fighting on hostile grounds. Those Brits are gonna be crazy for Ricky, but they’ll leave in tears at the end of night when they watch Britian’s favorite son take a major dose of truth serum,” Mayweather joked. “I’m telling you, Ricky’s fat [expletive] is lying to himself if he believes he can beat me. The guy can’t even stay in shape. How are you gonna beat Floyd Mayweather when you can’t even beat the battle of the bulge?,” Mayweather asked. “He can’t handle the truth in the ring or out of it. When I’m done with him, he can drink all he wants to because he’ll just be another washed up bum sitting in the corner of an English pub.” “BTW, what day is April Fools?”
