I'm going to read book next week before I can make opinion about the author.
I don't see anything wrong with weightlifting in fact it's a staple of my training, the problem with most fighters is how they approach lifting. One good book I found on the subject is "Expressing the Human Body" which is compiled from Bruce Lee's notes and diaries.
You approach exercise with specific goals, you factor in intensity (work-rate), the duration and the exercises. I don't see anything wrong with flys as long as your goal isn't to increase the poundage. Flys is particularly an isolation exercise for the chest which you should feel straight stretch in you chest when your arms are at the lower position.
Also don't underestimate stretching after your workout, it keeps your muscles supple, and as a cool down it helps you recover from a hard workout.
If you hear a voice within you saying that I am not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.
CC THANKS
Thank you i might check that book out thanks alot!!!
under a controlled environment weight lifting is beneficial. as long as you have someone watching over your routine, such as a strength and conditioning coach. , as so you are doing the workouts correctly, proper stretching before and after to help insure you don't lose flexibility. your not building for bulk, which I believe is counter productive to a prize fighter, your lifting for endurance, I have seen your videos , you don’t need to add any muscle my man, stay lean and take advantage of the height, concentrate on push-ups and sit ups . I would spend my hours working on proper technique and go with that, It will take you a lot further then a bulging bicep !Originally Posted by Boxerjl

Nice car, that beats the hell out of the tempo. How's it drive, if it doesn't have million miles on it all it needs is a eye candy paint job and it it'll look as good as new.
I read that book you mentioned last weak, it was alright but it didn't hold my interest for long. As I mentioned if you're going to add any exercises you must have some goals in mind. With weight training it'll add to your strength and intensity and then some but it's not going to do the rest of the work in regards to your sport.
Bruce Lee said it himself that his most important training was martial arts. Him applying weight training was to improve his already sufficient attributes. As you can see it is possible to increase endurance, strength and speed if those are the focus of the regimen.
Check out that book, I picked it up from my library a several times, but I found the concepts so useful for boxing I had to get my own copy. If you look around amazon.com or ebay you can get a copy for around 12 bucks.
