Thread: WHO WINS THIS ONE THEN GATTI VS GOMEZ

Gomez keeps getting better and Gatti is on the slide this must be his farewell fight but what if he loses im going to pick Gomez although i think it will be a war.

I say Gatti , he may be on the decline but I think he has been in with too many big names to lose to a real journeyman like Gomez

I would think Gomez but he didn't impress me that much in his last fight he didn't have alot of head movement but you would have to make Gomez favorite because Gatti is badly shot.

You've gotta wonder about Gatti's management. Put a badly shot Gatti who cuts easily in with a naturally bigger guy who can bang like a MW for his victory lap. Great idea!

I don't know who is going to win this, I keep waffling on this one. Gatti is certainly shot and should not be fighting anymore, but does he have enough tread left on the tires to beat Gomez?
I like Gomez, but he's never really impressed me as a fighter aside from when he fought Ishe Smith and lost early in his career (I'm not considering the Contender show fights, that editting that makes everyone look like a power-punching wrecking-ball). The only other time Gomez has looked remotely decent is against another Contender, Jesse Brinkly. He seemed hungry then, probably because there was $250,000 riding on the outcome, but since then he has looked average at best against limited competition.
I'm actually somewhat surprised to see so many people choosing Gomez, it wasn't too long ago that a few people were picking Gatti to upset PBF.
I guess my point is I don't know who is going to take this, but right now I'm leaning toward Gatti.

I am leaning towards Gatti. I like Gomez a lot and hope the best for him, but I think that Gatti just has to much experience and boxing skill. But then again I wont be that surprised if Gomez wins it. Either way it should be a fight fans fight.

I would love Gatti to win and call it a day, but Gomez will win by stoppage later on.

Really good analysis CFH and I agree. Still, I think gatti will win this one. I know he is shot etc...but what I dont understand if why people are giving gomez so much credit. What has he ever shown? I've always thought he seemed kind of sluggish in the ring. However, beating gatti would give a good bounce to gomez's future and no doubt he will give it everything he has.

gatti wins. gomez will be the more hungry and always gives 100%, but gatti is not as shot as a lot of people make out. he still showed signs of the old gatti in his last outing with baldomir and has enough experience to stop gomez. how many rounds is the fight?

You people need to wake up. I was fooled by season one into thinking that atleast one of those fighters would end up being world class by the time their career ended but honestly look at this:

Manfredo vs Calzaghe: premature stoppage yeah but manfredo is a superior fighter to gomez and he didn't even put up a fight.

The winner of that crapfest that was season one is still undefeated. Does anybody on this forum like the latin fake's chances against Taylor? Wait, think before you answer... thats what i thought. 

Now season two had some fighters that i can see making some noise but they're fighting predominately out of the welterweight division which is the most stacked division in boxing. But i'm way more inclined to give one of those fighters a shot against a champ b4 even looking at season 1.
