Default Where does Clottey fit in this picture?

In all honesty, I haven't seen very much of him at all.
But I was re-watching the Clottey - Corrales fight earlier and I can't help but wonder, where does Clottey fit in the big picture?
Sure, he was up against Corrales who was in the absolute wrong fight at 147, but regardless, Clottey looked very good in a dominant performance.
He also put up a great showing against Tony before he got injured and possibly lost the fight because of it.
When you talk about 147, names like Cotto, Margarito, Mosley, are always thrown around.
Is there room in the most exciting division for Clottey? What's his role in this picture? Could he be a big player?

Hopefully someone who's seen more of him than I have could give some insight.

I'd like to see him rematch margarito..Of course margarito doesnt really need this rematch any tme soon as he has at least two big fights ahead of him.. But i cant see him winning both and if clottey racks up a couple wins..I can see a very entertaining rematch in future!

    Totally agree.

Personally I think that JC is highly underratted & I'd love to see him in with Floyd, Cotto, or Hatton.

    Backatchoo Wack my man!

Yeaah man Now you mention it..

Light welter is getting awfully small for hatton should he take out the one big named fighter in Jlc..

I think clottey is an excellent settle in fight.. Ricky has had 40 plus fights and hes not getting younger..
So he cant waste his time with a bum to try settle into 147..

I say if he beats Castillo.. Move up ..Take a fight with clottey..
    It makes sense..
    Entertaining..
Clottey has a name going for hisself now..
Its no fight off but its better then moving up and fighting a tricky slick southpaw like he did with collazo

What you think wacko? Sounds watchable to me

Clottey is a good fighter....who should not be fighting at 147. I think the Corrales fight was at a catch weight of 149 or 150 and Clottey just about made it and rehydrated to something preposterus like 163 or something?! WTF?! He looked good v Corrales and Margarito and he is a very good fighter but I don't think his style would work against someone like Cotto. Tony, due to his wrist injury, was throwing alot of arm punches at Clottey's body, which was there to be hit all night, and he wore Clottey down. Cotto would crush his body,I think Mosley would be too slick. I'd like to see him v a Cintron. And to think this was Margarito's tune up....

Clottey is very strong . on any given day he could beat anyone at 147.

It would be watchable, but I think Hatton would be in big trouble. Clottey is too big and Hatton. If he needs to move up, he should pick a smaller welter.

Outside of Mayweather, Clottey is my favorite fighter in the division. If he can get back in the big fight scene, we should expect a lot from Clottey. Very versatile. An imposing fighter with quick hands and a tight defense, he can let rip with lead left hooks top to bottom. Or he can fall behind his guard and play the role of selective counter puncher. Very good fighter on the inside, love that defense of his, very Winky esque.

Not the best of fighters from the outside and his jab isn't worth anything. It's a lazy jab and when he follows it, he throws a very off balanced right hand that usually allows nothing to come behind it and just ends up smothering his opponent. He doesn't really have 1 punch power and sometimes he waits too long to fire off inside.

Still needs some work around the edges, but he is a very good fighter. And if Floyd leaves 147 or boxing for good, I wouldn't be surprised to see him grab a strap.

He actually came it at 170, Gamo.

I want a rematch against Margarito, and I'd pick Clottey to win.

Cintron would be a good fight in the meantime though (who is it that Cintron is scheduled to fight now?).

This might sound crazy, but mick jennings is ranked number 2 contender with the wbo, so why not put clottey and jennings in an eliminator the winner goes in with the magarito williams winner?

It does sound crazy to me. Only because: who the hell is Mick Jennings? The WBO is such a joke.

170 SHZA?! That is fwocking ridiculous! That really is! Clottey had his shot, now he needs to work his way again like everyone else. Cintron's fight with Mathysee should be an awesome fight., I favour Cintron,WTF has Walter done to deserve a shot #,get his ass beat by Paul Willaims
