15 rounds but sometimes it can be more tragedy to go them extra rounds.Originally Posted by tysonbruno
I love watching the old 15 rounders. Some of the recent fights you feel like they are end prematuraly when the fighters step out at the beginning of the 12th.
That being said though, watching 2 fighters who have given everything they've got by the 10th and knowing they've got another 5 to push through, I think 12 is better.
Some 12 rounds fights it just seems like the fighters are waiting for the 13th round to work their magic... In that way, you knew fighters would have to give something by the 15th round.

I always like 15 rounders...Thought it made for more dramitic fights...
Though I do agree with Safety first...As long as they don't go under 12 for title fights I am good with it

My heart say 15 rounds but my head says 12 rounds in name of the fighters safty.

12 rounds is i think perfect for most average boxers stamina so that they can perform in fast paced more adrenalin pumping style if they opt to. gifted endurance fighter though like pacquiao take advantage of this because pacman, ponce de leon and the likes should be born in the 15round era. Other fighters should be just considered wasted during the later rounds. And i really hate to see that in a fight.![]()
I only like the idea of 15 bacause some fights take time to get going and by the time they get going i sometimes think to myself shame their int a few more rounds or when one guy is winning all the rounds then around round 8 or 9 the other guy comes on and i think if he'd had a few more rounds he'd have stopped him but safety wise 12 is better perhaps even 10
gotta go with 12 rounds....gotta keep safety first....we don't need anymore black eyes than we already have...Originally Posted by tysonbruno

Im all for 15 rounds baby!
Especially these days. Fighters don't fight with the same disregard to their health as thet used to. PLus the refs are far more clued up.

If I for whatever reason ever found my self in a sanctioning body, having to vote on this subject, I would undoubtedly go with 12 rounds.
If I have to vote as a fan, I am not so sure, even if we disregard fighters' safety for a moment.
On the one hand most great 12 round fights would be even better by going 15 rounds. We all remember some of the great 15 rounders of the past, and we could all name a bunch of recent fights we wished would have gone on longer.
Considering how many fighters that seem to have problems with stamina even for 12 rounds, it would however not be unfair to say that some fights would be significantly worse if they had lasted 15 rounds. I mean, how many people here longed for 3 more rounds of Hatton-Urango? Or if fighting 15 rounds means fighting all rounds at a slower pace (adjusting for stamina), then how many people would even be capable of sitting through your average John Ruiz-fight?
Personally i'd like to see the end of 4 rounders .
Can't think of anything more pointless change it to 6-2's
How often do you see the better man lose just as he is getting warmed up.
Mikkel_K you make good points in your last paragraph about adjusting to the 15 rounders .
15 rounds. Imagine if the Barrera: Marquez fight was for 15! Or the first Hopkins: Taylor fight! Or even the Floyd: DLH fight!
Those would be gripping rounds!!
Or Taylor/Chavez....Originally Posted by miles
