Thread: Prime Tito Trinidad vs Prime Thomas Hearns 147

Both guys are candidates for hardest puncher ever in the WW division. What would happen if these two wouls meet in the ring?

Hearns would have won this one easy enough. Tito did not fight the guys at welterweight near what Hearns was. Tito was almost knocked out by Yori boy. I think Hearns outjabs Tito and knocks him out in about 3.. I think in this fight it has early knockout written on it.

Hearns wins tko or ko in middle rounds unlesss he doesn't get caught with Titos left hook which is possible because sometimes Hearns fought like brawler when it wern't always to his best advantage.

If Hearns can stay away from to many of Tito's punches he can win by middle round TKO

Hearns and Tito are both good, Hearns better I think overall .. Hearns punches were straighter which helps him in this fight. Tito would have had to get inside and land that hook and that would be hard with Hearns at 147. he was really hard to get inside with at that weight. At 160 the guy got inside more on him since he seems to have slowed down enough to get hit more.. But at 147 he was not hit by counter punches much, except Sugar Rays.

Although I agree that Hearns has some advantages in this fight and would probably win if he tried to outbox Tito, I don't believe that it would be easy like some claim.

To say that Tito would be KOed in 3 is just plain ridiculous IMO. Hopkins who is a full fledged MW was banging Tito for 12 rounds before he took him down.

Tito's right hand is also very much underrated. Tito had great power in both hands. And no one, no one could go toe to toe with him and survive long.

Bassically if Hearns decides to box, he wins by late KO. If Hearns decides to brawl I think is a toss up.

I do not think Hopkins really hit him that hard until he got the range. Hopkins used the early rounds to get points and avoid Tito's left hook. when Tito started to get a little tired and Hopkins knew he could hit Tito easy he started to take more chances. If Hopkins had put more force earlier in the punches I think he would have knocked him out earlier. Hopkins had a good tactic.

Tito took some hurtful punches off Hopkins agreed but this is Hearns we are on about and if he got hit with same punches Hopkins hit him with it would be short night for Tito.

I'm on 1 of TITO'S biggest fans but this would have been tough for him. Both fighters were chinny at times,both got up and showed heart. Both had tremendous power. I think if Hearns establishes distance andrange with his jab,to set that absolutely MONSTROUS RIGHT HAND,he stops Tito,about 6 or 7 rounds. Tito's best hope would be to get inside Hearns long arms. Tito had banging powr his stright right hand and left hook so those would be the most important punches for him. The double left hook,1 downstairs,1 up,would be effective. This would be an awesome fight!

As far as i see it..

Tito has the stronger chin then Hearns

Hearns has that little bit more power.. Both were amazing at welter but hearns was lights out devastating ala roberto duran on his face

Hearns a great boxer too

Frankly.. Yes absurd to say tito gets ko'd early.. The misconception that trinidad is all too ko'able comes from the one stoppage from Hopkins.. People seem to forget he broken down incredibly..

Way i see it.. Hearns wins by Refs stoppage after tito takes incredibly hard punches and lays defenseless on the ropes.. Ala tito snapping Yuri boys head over the back rope..

But if hearns gets caught early..Then tito finishes him spectacularly.. But hearns is good enough a boxer to controll the pace and keep the fight going into mid to late rounds and be patient in waiting for his stoppage..

I love tito..But theres no shame in saying its unlikely he beats hearns..

Oh and for the record Legend.. Yuri boy so did not nearly knock out trinidad..
A flash knockdown and up at three on a short left hook is not nearly getting knocked out
