well this should be interesting...maybe paul can destroy margarito..or maybe margarito can beat the youngster with experience..but either way I'm finally interested in a margarito fight....

Going into all the big fights recently , I have firmly predicted a winner but with this one im back and forth . I find it hard to seperate them and wouldnt bet my house on either .

Originally when it was announced I thought Margarito would have too much . He is an under rated fighter and he impressed me against Martinez on the Barrera- Morales undercard . He was great vs Diaz and ofcourse teh night he proved his worth vs Cintron . I think he can win this and look good but i've got a sneaky suspicion that Pauls extra fire power may prove decisive late on in this fight . After a life and death struggle Williams power will rescue him but its a very hard fight to call for me .

    Agree 100%.

While I like Williams, I think he's as green as an unripe apple. He'll try to make a statement & get himself cracked in the process.

I have a feeling that the loser of this fight will see his career completely ruined of any opportunity to fight for a title.

Its a good match up. I like Williams and he is as awkward as hell to fight. He will give Margarito some problems. But can he beat him? Im undecided. Another potentially excellent fight. I will stew on this one...plenty of time until they fight...

    # 994 Agreed, and I also  like these qualities about Williams:

    Composure
    Workrate and Volume
    Angles
    Footwork
    Hanspeed
    Power
    Rythm
    Size

    Gotta go with Williams.
Not too sure about his chin yet, though. He took a lot of Sharmba Mitchell artillery, but hey, it's Sharmba Mitchell.
But then again, nothing has really convinced me that he doesn't have a chin either.
And the height difference isn't that huge either, which usually is a huge Williams advantage. I think Tony is about 5'11" or so himself? But Williams should have something like a 10" reach advantage still.
His workrate is fantastic and I see him picking Margarito apart all night with combination reach and workrate.
Only downside still is a relatively untested chin and prone to taking a lot of shots too.
But I think he'll respect Tony's power to completely unload on him unguarded.
If he keeps distance, keeps up workrate, and picks Tony apart with shots down the middle, Windmill Margarito stands no chance, save for a Hail Mary shot. But that's basically Margarito's gameplan from round 1 too.
    Williams UD over Margarito

    CC #563 back in turn.

I like Williams, he's a very entertaining fighter. And Margarito hasnt really done all that much to really make me think that he can overcome all those difficulties Williams will bring. Margarito does have more experience, but since when was he faced with a fighter shaped like Williams?!

Im not decided on the outcome as I say, but it will be a heck of a fight!

Paul's freakish dimensions makes him diffiuclt foor anyone. Too close to call, but I'll be pulling for the "Punisher" to punish Margarito into silence once and for all.

Margarito taking another tough fight, against a possible future star. I disagree Wack,Williams isn't green. He's had as many fight as Tony!

Williams will be tough but Margarito's experience should see him through. They both know each others styles well too from all the sparring together,so both know how to unlock the other. Tony has the edge in power imo,has fought FAR FAR better fighters and come through and his uppercuts will be VERY VERY good for him in this fight,on the inside,Paul is WIIIIIDE open. And Tonys uppercuts are powerful in either hand. And his straight and looping right hands will both find homes here because unless Paul changes his defence dramatically,he will be getting nailed by them.

I fancy Tony by points but I KNOW this will be another tough fight against another tough opponent like Clottey,Diaz,Cintron etc etc.

I've shifted dramatically on this one.

Coming off the Sharmba victory, it was Paul Williams all the way But now I've watched the Mattysse (however the hell you spell his name, dude looks funny anyways) fight for like the 10th time, and on the 10th time it sunk in that Paul could be in for trouble. Why in the hell does he hold his hands so damn low? It doesn't make sense, and sometimes he reacts to a punch by picking his hands up, and he just isn't fast enough. He slipped OK I guess. But had it been Margarito that night, any form of Margarito, Paul would have been in over his head.

But still, I like Williams to slip most of Margarito's long straight punches. It's those sneaky, rangy uppercuts that worry me. That left lead uppercut is Margarito's most underrated punch and I foresee it being a factor.

And Paul needs to work on countering to push the pace. As busy as he is, he still waits to long in lulls of action to get going. He tends to stare at you while you do nothing, then go to work like 5 seconds later. Against Margarito, that 5 seconds of inactivity will be 2 seconds. And I think we all agree the one who pushes the pace better wins the fight. Well, Paul better act quickly.

    GO WILLIAMS A "Punishing" UD
