Holyfield vs. Savarese; is it good for boxing? Even though it energizes the current ARPP round robin, I still think this fight is intriguing. If they "pass" the Texas Medical exams, they should be able to get it on. If not, they should be banned.

Evander is going to have to DIE in the ring to not be given a license.....he fought through a heart condition.....he fought through hepititus.......he has come back after shoulder surgeries.....he has been beaten senseless by the last top level competition he fought.....and he went through 3 wars with Riddick Bowe which would have killed a lesser man

Saverese were'nt bad in 2000 when he fought Tyson but he only lasted 38 seconds now in 2007 he is washed up Holyfield should either fight a top 10 fighter or just hang up his gloves these fights are'nt proving anything now

I don't see how it can be good for boxing as a PPV.

Same goes for Briggs & Ibragimov, which I may actually pay for since there is no boxing on that night and it's only $29.95

It never ceases to amaze me how many old names from the past keep reappearing in our current era.

Now it seems that not just former champs like Holyfield, McCall, Moorer and Morrison believe they have a shot at reclaiming their former glories but even the 'prospect' of a decade or two ago seem to fancy their chances now.

I didn't even know Saverese was still fighting.

How long before big George comes back and cleans up the division.

It seems that with every passing year his return is actually more, not less likely

This fight kinda seems like a waste of time to me, and for sure not PPV material. Savarese is a nice guy, pretty tough, but has always struck me as a bum. He never could beat the top guys aside from beating a shot, fat ass James Douglas. Holyfield should KO Savarese, if he doesn't it just makes his comeback look worse.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

This fight sucks. If I'm gonna have to watch Holyfield, let him fight Vlad. Savarese should retire more than Holyfield should.

i really like holyfield as a man and a fighter but i feel the same way many people feel that he should retire but if he feels he has something to prove then i don't think anyone should stop him

Any fight with Savarese is not good for boxing. And Evander is getting to the point where they have to start thinking about his future. I understand being stubborn, but they could have stopped him from fighting. The commissions I mean. Same with Hearns when he fights now, they have to stop Holyfield and Hearns from fighting. That is not good for boxing.

This would have been a good fight in 1995, I didnt know Savarese was still around...wasnt he damaged by steroids? I just remember seeing a picture of him and he has some huge veins that are real dark..looked pretty bad.

all i can say is imagine if holyfield recaptured the belt damn that would be insanely inspirational!

with the current state of the HW division that would not be too ridiculous either

Well I do know that with Hearns they still let him fight which confuses me. They should know that he never will compete again for a title, so why let him fight. And Holyfield, I doubt he can win another title. If he has another loss they should pull the plug on his career.
