Default Taylor still top 10 p4p?

Has the time finaly come for taylor to be taken off the P4P list?

I know he 'beat' hopkins twice all those years ago and 'drew' with a light-middleweight, but surly he can't keep hanging on to those 'wins'?

I used to be a big fan of Taylor, maybe bought into the hype, i thought he was gunna be a breath of fresh air, nice humble guy, who was hungry and wanted to clean out his division, but since he has been champ he has only fought ONE middleweight, defended his belt 3 times against light-middle's and looked shite doing so.

In his last two fights Taylor has not looked deserving of a place in a top 20 P4P list, yet he is still ranked fairlyhigh in our list.

As far as a P4P list goes & Taylor's status & slot on one...well...you have to think with your head & not your heart.

He won...whether you liked the way he did it or not...he did. He's still undefeated & he keeps on working as the champion...so yeah...he stays on the list.

Personally, I will (...till the day I'm toes up takin a gotdam dirt nap) keep my resolve & use common sense in stating that he lost the first match to Hopkins & he lost to Wright. Sorry folks...fan or not...he did lose those fights.

but thinking with my head, yeah he has won his last 2 fights.. but looked crap doing so. Just because you win doesn't mean you should be p4p...

He just JUST beat a guy alot smaller than him, alot weaker than him... a guy who willmostlikely go back down and stay at light-middle... a guy who isn't even a p4p fighter...

Hatton and Castillo got droppd off p4plists for a hell of alot less... There are alot more deserving people out there of his spot IMO.

I agree & I do see where your'e coming from...and yes there are others out there whom, IWO, do deserve the slot.

Honestly...Pavlik is one that I would shoot up in my rankings list as he's running 30 & 0 & just keeps knockin em the fwock out.

Hatton & Castillo fought & underpreformed to some questionable opponents.

Taylor took on Ouma & Spinks both of whom, YES had lost, but were still proven fighters & solid opposition.

It all depends on how you define pound for pound.

Depending on how much emphasis you put in a fighter's history of opponents.
If you're going on a fighter's accomplishments over the course of a few years, then Taylor stays in based on the quality of his opposition.

But if we're going strictly by the idea that if everyone fought each other RIGHT NOW, pound for pound I don't like Taylor on the list. As I see Pavlik beating him at the moment.

So how much consideration do you put towards accomplishments in 2005? 2006?
Do you keep Taylor on the list because of his opposition in the last few years?
Or do you put in guys who you think would win in a hypothetical p4p fight RIGHT NOW?

Taking it all into consideration with more emphasis on if everyone fought p4p right at this moment, I gotta say Taylor is out.

take him off the p4p list because of one boring fight? You need more than that to get him off I think. Had he lost last night then maybe. Give him the right opponent and he will do ok. The only thing I will say is he has not had that one fight where he demolishes a guy like Hearns demolished Cueves and Duran and outboxed Benitez and Hill clearly. Or when Ray Leonard knocked out Hearns. Or Jones beat Toney by wide margins, But he is an adjustment fighter, and sometimes those fighters go to the level of how the fighter they are fighting fights.. He can rise to the occasion and take it up a notch when the other guy does.

You can't be removed from the list by beating a reigning world champ no matter how poor the fight was.

He's still on the list, just along with Ricky Hatton is one we are watching closely for a reason to demote them should they lose.

But I think both will perform better in their next fights.

How could they possibly perform worst?

i don't think people should look at winky as a blown up jr middle weight. winky carries 160 very well. i think he should be condsider a legit middle weight. every fighter who moves up in weight is not blown up.

anyway this is why i don't do P4P list anymore.

    I voted, NO!

Still, a win is a win, so if he stays put what can be done?

Honestly, I want to vote No, but who would move above him? I mean, on the fringes are guys like Castillo, Casamayor, Vazquez, Hopkins, Tarver and Hatton, and I wouldn't want to move him out in favor of them when he really hasn't lost. His next fight will most likely be his make or break fight because it'll be against someone worthy of the challenge.
