I've never been dropped but I have found myself in situations where I've walked into something more than once in a short space of time - the general thought then is "what did I just get hit with?" because if I've walked into it twice I don't know.
For some reason in that situation I'm not mentally able to see it before it happens - perhaps nervous or too set in my game plan to adjust or see the need to?
The other thought is "what do I do now?" because I might be unsure of what to do - I don't know if that's a good thought because it usually slows me down - the whole paralysis by analysis thing.

Clinching wont make you any fans, but it buys you time, and if you make it instinct, you can do alot of damage in a clinch

I've never really been taught how to clinch. I guess as time goes on I should learn because it's not uncommon for me to have to give away weight to get an opponent and I'll often have a power disadvantage. Choosing the wrong time to be thinking "WTF do I do now" could hurt!
Since you posted this thread Scrap what would you think? What should we be thinking?

Lords you got it cc. I remember Terry Downes getting stopped by Dick Tiger in 4 and after being asked by the press who hed like to fight next. Terry replied The fucking matchmaker. But youd be thinking I dont think this is my nite if i get up the cunt will kill me, but you still get up. I remember it happening to me early in my career the third time he knocked me outa the ring my head hit the bell and i thought id made it to the end of the round got up and the ref said i think thats enougth son i didnt argue.

Iv never bin down but i sparred this mean french heavyweight about a year ago. I was giving away about 5 stone, but he was giving away speed, combinations and footwork. I was outworking him so bad he started to really load up and he caught me right on the temple opening a cut that resulted in a horrible little scar. Now im not lying when i say i dont remember the 2 remaining rounds, but apparently i went toe to toe and got the best of it. Scary thing is tho, i really cant remember, i saw a big white flash and then i was in a cold shower![]()

I was sparring as a relative novice(about 8 months), when my opponent broke trough with one hell of a body shot.
My legs went and i doubled over for about 4 seconds. I thought; well, this hobby is gonna hurt.
I recovered and never made the same mistakes again
A strange feeling getting rocked . its like going from sober to drunk in one second.Originally Posted by Scrap
