Thread: HBO Broadcast better with Papa instead of Lampley tonight?

I thought tonight's broadcast with Bob Papa was excellent. I actually like Lennox more than usual tonight. Merchant seemed to talk a lot more during the fight, instead of just between rounds, which I liked a lot.

Lampley doesn't do BAD.

It's normally Fran Charles, Max and a random guest host Max, Manny, Lennox.

I guess now it'll be Papa, Merchant and random guest.

Merchant is just filling in on BAD while they look for a replacement. That spot is empty right now because Kellerman is only going to work WCB and PPVs from now on.

Right. I didn't mention Merchant was part-time.

I tried looking into sending them my reel but I got no response from HBOs human resource dept.

Wonder if they'd let me do the show wearing glasses?

Lennox is a hard listen . him defending that first match was pure bullocks. Dirrell using the 4 corners defense over the course of the entire match was snuff queen material. the fans lost that match.

I dont know that it was better..

I know i really enjoyed the commentating and i thought the guy did an excellent job..

Especially since i dont tend to warm to new people so soon.. Im pretty picky when it comes to commentators..

Cant stand kellerman or your usual uk broadcasters.. But the dude suprised me how well he did and how knowledgable he was,

I think Larry Merchant was loads better last night too!..
I think all this talk of his job bieng at stake etc has motivated him in some way to put more effort into theyr broadcasts

I did like last night commentating.

One thing i thought of that was cool..

Obv i like lampley..But it does grate having seen him call so many fights and he still does the thing where he calls a punch wrong or says something landed when it didnt..

Guess the new dude was just pretty accurate and fresh etc

Lampley is my favourite member of the HBO team. Lewis is all right but rather pointless, he doesn't ever explain anything, just agrees with whatever the anchorman asks him and then leaver it for the anchorman to elaborate.

For me Teddy Atlas, Lampley and James Toney would be the dream team but I doubt it will ever happen

ve to admit I thopught it was a pretty good crew calling the fights....IMO Lennox is pretty enjoyable when commentating....At first when he started to appear on the telecast he was kind of tight and stiff in his broadcasting...He has become a welcome addition to the team...I prefer him to Steward and Foreman

hey guys I have to agree the broadcast seemed much better with bob papa and larry merchant workin together... don't know about lewis and his defense of dirrell running in circles all night

What happened to Lampley? is he off the broadcasts or did he have the night off or something?

Was Dirrell crowd pleasing? NO...But i can name several guys who made a pretty damn good career with that style.....One being a fellow about to serve 7yrs...Hector Camacho Sr
