Default If you think about it, Mayweather really respects Ricky Hatton

if you think about it...mayweather really respects hatton as a fighter..because if anyone besides me remembers the build up to the mayweather-judah fight...at a press conference mayweather when speaking about judah said,

"he's nothing, the only fightert I respect knocked him down twice with one punch"

And we all know that was Kostyu Tyzsu..and who did Hatton beat to solidify his name....ding,ding,ding, that's right...Kostyu Tyzsu... So really Floyd respects Hatton and will train like never before to destroy Ricky much like Vitaly did to Danny williams after he beat mike tyson...Asside from Kt being a great fighter, maybe beating uncle Roger is why he respects KT aswell...

I think he respects him more than he does Oscar!

I think deep down he will wonder how Hatton dispatched of Castillo so easily when it took him all the way...twice!

I know Castillo is a little older and wearier than 5 years ago...but I think it'll cross Mayweather's mind!

Great post man; I'd give you a cool click but I don't even know what that is and I don't think I can anyways . I would think Floyd has some respect for him at the least. I think they were hoping that Castillo ko'd Ricky and then no telling how much Floyd would have talked; but I think they knew Ricky had a good chance to win, but figured it would go the distance. Then they could have said it took Ricky the full distance to beat an old geezer, so Ricky would still be a "bum". Geezer or not, Ricky did what he had to and put the blast on Castillo. I would have to think that not only got under Floyd's skin a bit, but also made him at least grudgingly respectful of Hatton. JMO. This is a great forum by the way; been peeking about for a long time but hope to be a small voice in discussions now.

This fight should it come off will be a Classic:
It will be a Classic in thesense that two polar opposites will clash:

the pretty, speed driven skills and defense of Floyd clashing with the relentless aggresive marauding Hatton onslaught.

the Humble Hatton beloved by the masses, challenging the supremacy of the self engrossed overlord that is mayweather.

    Trash Talking vs. Manchester slang.

Boxing's nice Guy vs. Boxing's Bad Boy.

    Maaaaaaannnn...the possibilities!!!

Hatton would be a big underdog against Mayweather but he has as good a chance as any other out there at welterweight and below. Hatton pressures like few others do and is actually very fast and would be unrelenting.

Of course Floyd would be favourite, but Hatton always has that chance.

I would venture that Hatton is in fact being underrated by some. Hatton is top 10 P4P. He beat Kostya and has now stopped Castillo. I dont see Margarito or even Mosley on any top 10 lists. It seems that when it is time for the biggest of fights that Hatton reaches a level of intensity that is hard to break. Castillo didnt know what to do with it. Kostya actually quit on his stool. Hatton may not be pretty, but when its at stake he has always delivered.

Hatton should not be judged alone on the Collazo fight or the Urango fight. If Hatton were to venture back up to welterweight I feel he would prepare correctly and perform better. I even think that Collazo should be his next fight. A chance to blow all of the doubts away for good. Or else fall back on a sharp sword. If Hatton were to beat up Collazo pretty badly then a lot of doubt would have to be wiped away.

Hatton has a number of bouts at 147. I would like to see Collazo first. Any bout with Floyd to follow that. Hatton can beat on Collazo.

mayweather has to respect hatton because hatton beat KT..and Mayweather openly said KT was the only fighter he respects.... you see?
