Default Does everyone really think the Hatton v Mayweather fight will happen?

    Im not to sure?

Reason being that the demands of both camps will be so different, firstly the referee? Floyd will no doubt demand a ref that in the past has stood for no close up work (maybe Jay Nady?) then theres the gloves ring etc etc, we havent even got onto the financial side.

Now Dennis Hobson's offer today of $10 million probably falls short of at least $5million, and i cant see Floyd travelling to England in a mother of sundays even though he has stated before he would fight Hatton in England, i also cant see HBO happy with this fight happening anywhere but the States, i think if this fight happens Hatton will have to bite his lip and take maybe a 65/35 cut or maybe not even that, now people will say Hatton maybe dererves 50/50, maybe true but Floyd is stubborn and is regarded as the best in the Business, now Hatton if takes this sort of deal will still easily make a career high payday, but will he?

I think he has to, at the moment everyone is buzzing about this fight we cant put it off for much longer, Hatton needs Floyd not the other way round, say Hatton decides to fight Malinaggi, and doesnt impress, which is a possibility his showdown with Floyd could be well and truely dead in the water. I think Ricky needs this fight right now, even if he does loose there will be so many other options especailly if he loses a close one.

I hope im wrong but witrh these two strong personalites, will they be able to agree to all terms? I think Ricky is the one who has to give a bit as he did with KT two years ago, i hope im wrong because it will be a treat for boxing. What do you guys think?

I don't think it will happen. Why? the usual, money.

Floyd made a fucking packet in the fight with De La Hoya and thats why I think he will demand a large and unfair purse even though he STILL will not be the bigger draw. The way I see it......both are undefeated and Floyd is considered the P4P best so 60-40 Floyd, no more no less.

Yeah you gotta take all this stuff with a pinch of salt. In the past I was so exited with fights being made but ended up losing half the interest by fight night.

Same here. Kessler vs Calzaghe will kill me if i have to wait till next year. I might even decorate the fucking kitchen come fight night. Im sure I could get the fridge in that gap.........anyhow! I hate waiting and always have. It's 1000 times worse that waiting for a train or bus when your off to meet a bit of fluff.

Thats what i mean Ice if this happens next year, Ricky might have had a stinker and the intrest has gone down and no one is as intrested, i think Ricky should go out at all costs to get it now, the money will never be better after the 4th round ko of Castillo, he needs this fight while everyone is impressed with Hatton, look at the Kt fight everyone was demanding Hatton v Floyd, but he went and fought Collazo and no one was intrested anymore, same thing could happen again. Like i said before a defeat is not the end of the world, he could still go back down to 140 and dominate there, Hatton for me is in a win/win situation.

I think this fight happens because there is too much money to be made on both ends. This is the hot fight right now and Hatton especially doesn't want to take another fight, look bad, or worse even lose. I think it happens in Vegas, the Brits showed they can definately make the trip for that. Just please leave that annoying band next time.

but to take the fight now wouldn't be wise for Hatton IMO
not if he's going in it to win it
i really wanna see the fight but i think he needs a warm up fight at 147 first
dont just jump into the weight and fight the best

I just hope Ricky doesn't fight Malignaggi at MSG. That fight will be boring as shit IMO and it'll do nothing for Ricky.

Cant see this fight happening for a long time yet. Hatton's camp would have been better off trying to offer Cotto a fight. He will end up fighting for one of the belts. Probably the winner of Witter- Harris in Manchester.

i dont know if this is on another theread or not but this is from ESB:

The fight has tentatively been set for November 10, 2007 and both sides are set to iron out the details in the next two weeks. This will be a megafight in hype only, make no mistake about it. Ricky Hatton who carries with him a very large fan base unfortunately lacks the skills to deal with Mayweather. Oscar De La Hoya is also rumored to have called Hatton and stated that he is interested in fighting him. I wonder if De La Hoya would make Hatton come up to 154lbs and impose all the things on Hatton that he did against Mayweather?
