Default Danny Green v Clinton Woods

I give Green a great shot against IBF champ Woods. Green is so tough and determined.

At the lowest point in his life, when his dreams and aspirations had been crushed in a very public humiliation, Danny Green headed off into the desert of central Australia on a voyage of self discovery. His father (pictured) would show him the way back to a showdown with IBF light-heavyweight king Clinton Woods - a fight most experts in Australia say Green can win.

What evidence have you that Green who is moving up in weight has any chance to beat Woods?

Woods knocked out Hoye quite easily then outpointed Gonzalez comfortably and then deseverded his 12 rounds victory against Johnson, now Woods has been been beating guys at World Level and is current World Champion, i have seen Danny Green fight two World class fighers and get smoked at this was at the weight below, i honestly think this would be an easy nights work for Clinton.

Green could beat Woods if they fought but I doubt he would. He's a frustrating fighter to watch imo as he's clearly got the power to just bludgeon most other fighters into unconsciousness but at the biggest times in his career he seemingly and bizarely chooses to box rather than brawl.

In the first fight with Beyer he looked sensational completely overpowering Beyer. But in the rematch he decided to stay on the outside and box with Beyer allowing him to win a decision. What made it so frustrating was that in the last couple rounds when he knew he had to get a knockout he finally stepped it up and almost destroyed Beyer inside 6 minutes. Why didn't he just blow him out from the beginning

It was the same against Mundine, he tried to box with a far better boxer and lost virtually every round.

If he just fought to his strengths and aimed to take Woods head off I have no doubt he would knock him out.

But if the fight happened I can virtually guarantee that Green would try and box with him for 10 rounds until he had no chance of winning a decison then step it up too late.

    Frustrating fighter.

Green had a lot of trouble making 168.
At 175 I know he is a much better fighter.

I think Green has the tools to beat Clinton just not the mindset. To say he's coming up in weight as if he;s the smaller guy is not really true. He was a super middleweight in the same way Hopkins was a middleweight he's actually a natural 175 lber and is the same size as Woods.

I personally thought Woods lost all three fights with Johnson and was hurt badly in all of them.

In a toe to toe exchange I'd take Green any day of the week over Woods whose chin I have doubts about.

But I don't think Green would put enough pressure on him until late in the fight and Woods would manage to survive the last couple rounds and win a decision.

I'm not big on Woods though.

Woods would knock Green out inside 8 rounds in my opinion.

Green has never even been down? Woods is notoriously chinny, how you figure this?

Since when was Wood's notoriously chinny? he doesn't have an iron chin... but he has no glass jaw... and a lot of heart.

You can't honestly tell me that Woods lost the last fight with Johnson... Johnson's best shots were hitting arms and gloves. He had a really good 9th round but other than that he didn't do enough.

Like most B level fighters, he shows 'heart' because he's easy to hurt. Any fighter who goes down or gets rocked by a punch seems to be praised for having 'heart' whereas a fighter with a better chin who takes the same shot but doesn't nearly crumple always has question marks over his chin.

Arturo Gatti is one of the best examples ever of this strange phenomenon.

Yes i agree, he has a suspect chin, but i still feel he will have to much for Danny Green, but saying that he is not getting any younger and hasnt fought in a while.

Green has been on the end of a lot of pastings, against a big strong Light Heavyweight who's on top form at the minute, the ref would stop him taking too much.

Woods is chinny, never in a million years. Its one of his best attributes. Known to overtrain at times and leave it in the gym. On his day fighters like Green are made for him.

When has Green ever taken a pasting? He was outboxed by Beyer and Mundine but it was Beyer who got batered in both fights. Mundine is the only fight he's ever been outclassed in and he was never close to being stopped.

I think that's taking things a bit too far. Roy battered him, De Lisle floored him and Johnson had him hurt in every fight.

I think your right about him beating Green if they met because I think Green forgets his brawling style in the crucial moments but out of all the current champions at 175 I'd say that Woods is the most suspect.
