Thread: Does Bob Sheriden talk more s**t than Duke McKenzie?

Now this probably sounds an outrageous think to say but I think that the Colonel, as likeable as he undoubtebly is actually talks more shit than McKenzie and McGuigan combined.

Listening to him this weekend he said that David Rodriguez is the future of the heavyweight division and last week stated that the Kimbo Slice vs Ray Mercer was the most atmospheric fight he'd ever commentated on including the Rumble in the Jungle with Foreman and Ali

He also went on to say that mixed martial artists are the fittest athletes he's ever seen apart from cowboys (wtf?) and that the CCFC event that hosted the Slice Mercer fight will soon eclipse the UFC as the premier MMA organistion

Don't get me wrong, I like him and enjoy his commentaries but he gets so caught up in the event of the moment that he just has no sense of perspective whatsoever.

Any of you guys noticed this?

He does say some random stuff. The part about the MMA fighters and the cowboys is classic

Does his scoring of fights seem odd to anybody but me I don't see him announce too many fights but I've seen him score fights for guys who clearly lost. The last one I saw was Barrios versus Joan Guzman and he had it like 10-2 for Barrios

He's totally insane I think, the Murray Walker of boxing commentary. You certainly couldn't have him on a proper boxing show thats for sure.

I actually think of him as working for Sopcast as he's always doing the commentaries for fights I watch on there

And why is he called the Colonel? I'm guessing he's an ex Vietnam vet that stood too close when a mortar went off, got sent home on medical grounds and has been a crazy ever since.

Yep, the Colonel pretty much thinks every fight he sees is "the best fight I've ever seen", or if the fight is crap, then its the best "atmosphere he's ever been at". He gets so damn excited I'm surprised he hasn't had a heart attack by now the fat bastard. He is entertaining though thats for sure, you can tell he loves boxing.

Actually and I'm being completely serious here he has already had 4 heart attacks! He had one the day before the second Tyson Holyfield fight, got released from hospital to attend the fight and commentate, whilst having a doctor on standby with him and was then rushed back to hospital afterwards!

Completely true story the guy is freaking nuts!

But he loves his boxing, probably the most passionate man in the history of sports commentating

Fuck you guys have no idea, we down under get stuck with him for every major fight we get televised down here. He doesnt shut the fuck up and always goes off topic and starts talking about his friends in aus and goin on hunting trips....and nothin valid bout boxing.

Gotta be honest guys, I quite like the way the Colonel gets the blood pumping with the hype for a big fight. He's done so many since the Ali days and now he's getting into MMA.

I don't know about him being a cowboy but I have heard him talk about bull-riding. Like you say the bull's beaten before it starts. The Colonel weighs about 400 pounds

I was complaining about Sheridan during the Adamek fight
You could tell who Don King had some kind of claim on the entire night,because Sheridan wouldnt shut the hell up about them,drove me freaking nuts

I have always found him very annoying to listen to. His Boston accent combined with his fat self makes for a very annoying commentary, plus for some reason he thinks its better to talk through the entire fight and never take a breath.
