Joe Calzaghe says his unification bout with Mikkel Kessler on 3 November will be his last at super middleweight.
The 35-year-old WBO title holder says beating Kessler, the Danish WBA and WBC champion, would leave the Welshman without further challenges at 168lbs.

"This will be my last fight at super middleweight," Calzaghe told BBC Wales.

"Win against Kessler and I'd have all the belts and I'd have beaten the best fighter out there, so what else could I achieve at super middleweight?"

Good for him, that is a totally legit thing for him to do.

I am interested to see how he does at 175, Although I don't think by the time he gets there, there will be any outstanding competition for him there either.

He needs to beat Kess first but if he does,I'd be glad for him to move up. Perfect scenario would be for B Hop to beat Winky and JC B Hop to fight at 175.

If he goes after the Kessler fight it's obvious he's dodging Froch..and Taylor/Pavlik..and Mundine..and the Lacy rematch.

Dominate your division, unify & take out the #2 man...just like you did a year or so back...get no respect...which is total TOTAL bullshit....& then move up.

Hats off to him if he does,,,,But I hear so much about what Joe is going to do I take no stock in it until it happens....I still will not believe the Kessler fight will happen until the first punch is thrown....

It is a shame really that there is so much BS politics in the sport you can not count on anything untill it happens...Not just with Calzaghe but all the big names....

What ever happened to fighting thwe top 10 guys all the time once you are the champion?

Exactly let's see mate.

It would be somewhat better on Calzaghes body to go up 7 pounds more. He has had difficulties making the weight. Calzaghe's stamina in fights is an enigma considering the strains upon the body!

What your saying is then he should never leave SMW the top 10 list consits of him and 9 other people he has beaten?

And since most times when a fighter gets beat (especialy ones ranked like 10, 9 or they get removed from the list and a new face happens... How can a fighter ever retire?

Also, what list... who do you count? Saddos? fightnews? The Rings? Your ABC organisaiton? What heppens when you have two or three belts? if you only got one you will never unifiy will you?

why on earth should Lacy get a rematch I really doubt he is looking for one unless he is stupid :P .

Froch I would still say is a fighter the needs to prove he is up there to get a shot.

Taylor/Pavlik well they are not at 168 yet so dodging them nah I don't think so.

Mundine hahahhahahahaha ( sorry , I rank him the 3 challenger but the devision looks kind of weak except Calzaghe-Kessler)

I hope that Kessler also would consider moving up after he has presented calzaghe with a TKO in round 10 .
