There's gotta be some kinda catch. People don't just give you a $500 as a gift along with their regular priced service.

If the phone gets good service, i'd say go for it. If you have to only pay 35 a month for 18 months, thats almost (maybe even alittle less) than the price of a ps3. If it comes with an ok phone with respectable service, its a great deal IMO.

Wii's the best choice as it stands now but the ps3 has a lot of upside for the upcoming years. You can't mess with a free console tho.

It's simple. They get paid more by a network for connecting you than it costs to buy a wii or PS3 or whatever else they're offering. Competitoin is fierce and companys will come up with whatever gimmicks they can to get the business.

35 quid a month for 18 months is over £600, then you have your calls on top of that. Plus in 18 months a PS3 will be about £200. Thats how I tend to look at it. I hate contract phones I just stick to pay as you go. You can get flashy phones dirt cheap though depending on who you know.

I dunno about $200 for the real thing. Sony has this joke coming out now thats only 40 gig (i think the main one now is 80) and it only plays ps3 games as opposed to the one for $600 that plays ps1 2 and 3 games as well as blue ray discs and theres an adapter where you can transfer your memory card info onto the ps3's hard drive. That thing won't be $200 for a VERY long time.

You know $200 is £100 over here though mate? I was talking pounds, sorry. We always seem to pay more than anyone else in the world for EVERYTHING here in the uk. A pair of Levis costs about £50 here so thats $100 US. My mate went to Florida and got me a pair for $24 thats £12!!! Insane!!!

Your money's worth more so in the end, that doesn't really make sense. If its worth more whay should they need more of it, seems completely backwards. I remeber trying to get a rare video game and i checked out a british auction on ebay, that thing got ridiculous from an american standpoint in a hurry (seemingly nothing for you is alot over here). $400 is likely within a year that i don't doubt. The thing they released now as a "bargain" console is only $200 i think but its a complete waste of money IMO. There's also not that many games so in the next year the price will drop and there'll be a better selection so waiting til then makes sense.

there's an old business/economics saying...."There's no such thing as a free lunch."

The wireless phone industry is the most utterly ridiculously corrupt bunch of fucks ever... a total racket. IMO, they're breaking every anti-trust law ever written. The most corrupt industry I can think of. The only difference between them and the mafia is that they do things "legally." In fact, if the mafia was smart, they'd find a way to get in the biz and go "legit" while still robbing everyone blind.
