Thread: I dodged a bullet

I was sitting on the couch eating a chili dog when I heard the news about the 10oz. cans of chili being tainted with Botulism. I lept from the couch and ran to the bathroom and induced vomiting. I had tears in my eyes and was in full blown panic mode.

I had my girlfriend call the place we got it from and lucky me, they make their own chili. Still, I couldn't finish my dinner.

Surely, once you knew that it wasn't your chilli that caused botulism, you should have been scoffing the stuff. I mean, what are the odds of two serious food diseases hitting the same type of food on the same day

It would've been better if you saw the news 20 minutes after you finished eating the whole thing that'd be a funny scene once you put 2 and 2 together . I think i had samonella poisoning before (probably not). We had chicken the night before so i went to heat up a drum stick and there was this small puddle (half a dollar sized) of red stuff. I immediately figured it was blood but in order to confirm that it was, i had to stick my finger in it and taste it (no point in being worried if it was only barbeque sauce and yes I'm an idiot). It was blood and i felt like i was gonna die for about three days. If you worry too much about that stuff you'll make yourself sick wether you are or not.

Last night I rolled over in bed and told my g/f to turn on the lamp. I felt like my eyelids were starting to droop and was having trouble breathing.

She explained to me that is what happens when you don't sleep for two or three days and demanded I go back to sleep.

So far that is the only signs of botulism that I have seen. Still, it could take 72 hours to show itself.

When I was younger I ate a spoonful of mustard for a dare. Afterwards my mates told me that if you ate that much your liver and kidneys would fail and you would die.

I was seriously thinking I only had a couple hours to live!

I need me pain killers!  Still even though they make me groggy it's still difficult to get comfortable enough to sleep.

Other than that... you are dealing with a drug free individual.  Unless we are counting the caffeine in the occasional Pepsi. And the blood pressure meds.
