Default Hopkins - Wright Will this actually be a good fight?

I know just by their names alone this fight generates a tone of interest. You just can't help but get caught up with the excitement of the event. Howver, most would agree that this will be an extreemly complicated chessmatch. Nither is expected to get hurt at any time, much less hit the canvas. They are both defensive masters which points to a miss fest. Nither is a big risk taker or considered agressive so we can expect a low volume of activity. However, both guys know how to apply pressure with limited amount of actual pounching so in a way this fight will also be a war of wills. A cold war at that.

I am a big movie buff. So what does this have to do with boxing? Nothing except to make a comparison. I enjoy the action movie like any other guy and I see them again and again. But the movies that really get to me are the suspense movies. The once that keep you on your toes cuz you don't really know who's in control or whats gonna happen next. However, once I know what happends in the end. The movie gets tossed in my closet and I probably will never see it again. It just is no fun anymore when you know what happends.

I suspect this fight will be similar to a great suspense movie. I will be at the edge of my seat every minute of every round just trying to judge who is taking control of the fight and how is the other guy going to take it back and who will come out on top. But I also suspect that after it is all over I will have little desire to see it again as the fight will most likely be a bore once you know who won. But no doubt it will give us all fond memories.

I think that both of these guys understand at this point for them to have future fights on HBO,
the fight has to be entertaining, meaning a higher punch output.

I think we will see both guys slug more than we are used to (at least I hope so)
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

I reckon it's going to be very entertaining. As the original poster said even if nothing much happens just the supsense is exciting.

Wright will be really up for this and will stand and bang with Hopkins imo.

I've picked Hopkins in the prediction contest as I just can't bear to choose Winky over Hop but in reality I think Winky wins this.

Whether the judges agree is a different matter entirely though :P

I was thinking the same thing but then again it could go the complete opposite.

This could be good action wise, Hopkins has been known to turn up the heat on southpaws. Remember Hopkins/Keith Holmes? If it is a boxing match it might be slow. I enjoyed the chessmatch with Tarver though. Perhaps I enjoyed it because I was pulling for Hopkins.

I am suprised the undercard isn't stronger, keeping me from spending to money on this one.

I was not too keen on this fight when it was first announced but it is 2 legends fighting each other and like Bilbo said,it would,at the very worst,be very very intense.

I have to say I'm very excited about this fight, two great champions, and I really have no idea who's going to win this one. I don't think it's going to be very action packed, but I still think it will be exciting and dramatic.

I don't see a high punch out put, but just to have these two in the ring together will make the fight dramatic and tense. It'll be two master boxers trying to see whose gameplan is more effective. I think Bernard will beat Winky, he'll make Winky come to him and counter him enuff to win the fight. He'll probably rock Winky a couple times too, hopefully put him on his ass. Hopkins UD is the way I see it.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

Have you heard about the scuffle? Hopkins put his hand in Winkys face and pushed him away and Winky pushed back .
Sounds like a gimmick IMO to bump up PPV sales

This fight will be interesting and well contested for 12 rounds but I think Hopkins has got Winkys number . Whatever Winky tried Nard will have the answer and he is going to run out of ideas I think . Winky will try to force the fight but that plays right into Hopkins hands . I cant see the executioner losing

Winky is a class act and has a decent chance but he will lose on points .

My thought as well. Scripted aggression.

This going to be streamed anywhere? Sopcast?

Yeah I read about it. It could be a gimmick but you never know. I want to see it. Also, I can't remember where I read it but someone was talking about how hard it is to not lower your hands from the earmuff defense that Wright has when pushed off balance. I'm sure Hopkins knows this and will definately be pushing and roughing up Wright all night by jerking him around and shoving and such. I thought that it was interesting.

Interesting . . So you mean Hopkins is going to push up him up close knock him off balance and when Winkts tries to regain balance that is when Hopkins will strike. He did that afew times with Tarver I noticed . Whenever Tarver was offbalance , Bernard used to rush him and send all his weight on the front foot . He didnt even set himself for his punches he just threw his body at Tarver onto the ropes and it worked . It had its desired effect .

This is what I mean by the ring wizzardry of Hopkins . He is like boxings Harry Potter ! He will be in the driving seat making Winky fight his fight . Winky will look plodding and 1 dimensional in there and his great defence will finally be broken . Tito and Shane couldnt do it but tomorrow we are guna see a true great defensive genuis beat another defensive genius and crack right through that peekaboo defence with timing and feints and perhaps a little rough work . Bernard knows exactly what he wants to do and I just think Winky will fall into his trap .

Tis a weird one. With all the other fights, I just sorta saw it as a bit of an exhibition. We're now a day away and I see it as a fantastic fight that I'm dying to see.

You gotta love Winky though. He's on of my Bwoy's!
