Default HOLYFIELD HAS HIS CHANCE TO BECOME CHAMP FOR FIFTH TIME AGAINST IBRAGIMOV!!!

    http://www.fightnews.com/

Ibragimov-Chagaev off: Sultan will now defend against Holyfield!
Evander gets shot at fifth world title
After the sudden withdrawal of WBA Heavyweight Champion Ruslan Chagaev from his October 13th unification bout with WBO Heavyweight Champion Sultan Ibragimov due to undisclosed medical reasons, Seminole Warriors Boxing, Golden Boy Promotions, Main Events and Golden Grain Promotions, in association with Sampson Lewkowicz and Yuri Federov’s Sports Lab, have announced that stepping up to the plate in an attempt to win the heavyweight championship of the world for a fifth time is Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield. Ibragimov-Holyfield sponsored by Nafta Moskva, will take place on the original date of Ibragimov-Chagaev, Saturday, October 13, at the state of the art Khodynka Arena in Moscow, Russia. Broadcast plans for the bout will be announced once they are secured.

GO EVANDER!!! I think this is a step up to soon i think i would of like to see him in against a couple of nearly men first to be perfectly honest but you never know.

Whoop whoop. Good for Evander, I know there's a lot of people who have been criticising his recent comeback because of his age, and because he could do a lot of damage to his health by staying in the game, but I disagree.

Holyfield has looked solid during his comeback, and a great of a previous era is still very good in the current era, and I wouldn't be too surprised to see him win this. However, he's not faced someone of this quality, and I hope that he still has the tools not to get totally embarrassed, or even hurt.

These bums ruslan and sultan had a chance to make themselves useful for the sport and they blow it. What a joke. Evander has a shot but come on he's gonna get blown out by any decent heavy he faces after this.

I think it will benefit the heavyweights to have an American champion once again, because Shannon Briggs was a farce and a credible champion might just have to be a 44-year old Holyfield.

At least the common man recognizes Holyfield, should he win that may be a good thing as far as getting more Americans back into boxing......It is sorely needed over here.

I'm sorry, but are you guys all frigging crazy. What possible good could come out of this. I have nothing against Holyfield but this is a joke.

    1. Ibragimov, though being possibly the weakest of the HW title holders, is still a young, strong tittle holder that could beat up Holyfield bad.

    2. Assuming that EH actually wins, he will just risk facing some other young strong fighter who would give him another bad beating.

    3. Sultan is not even a real champ. Even if Holyfield wins this would mean another BS title to add to the one he won off of Ruiz. Holyfield was NEVER a four time champion and beating Sultan defenately does not make him a five time champion.

This fight is like putting a nail in the coffin for the heavyweight division. To think that these guys were about to have the first unification fight in 10 years and thing might start looking up.

    What a crok of SHIIIIIIAAAAAATT

Ah i hope he pulls it off just for nostalgia's sake. Don't you think he's worked pretty hard to get back where he is?

Naah man, you got it twisted. We can't just call the title holders we don't like BS, and then heap praise on other fighters cause we like them or rate them better. At the moment the best thing we have are the four alphabet belts, and we can't disregard one, and then praise another. It's far from perfect, and one governing body would be much, much better, but until then we have to look at the belts as world titles in my opinion.

Does anyone else here get nervous whenever holyfield gets in the ring? I do. Hes better now than he's been but come on if he wins this fight looks at who he'd have to fight next:

    Wlad seeking a unification

Vitali after getting frustrated with the wbc

    Peter seeking a unification bout

The only one he could defend (and survive against) is chageav (and he'd probably outbox valuev). I'm all for an american champ (i was crazy enough to think that brewster and briggs would unify ) but evander is far from a sure thing at this age. If he wins a title who's he gonna successfully defend it against. Is tyson gonna be crazy enough to comeback for tyson-holyfield 3 where the winner gets the better bed in the retirement home? I used to think just having an american champ would be great, but they need longevity. Him getting one more title just for the sake of having it is pointless at this point unless he can defend it. If he just wins and retires/loses, it does us no good.

So you take one of my points and disect it and forget about all the others. The main problem I have with this is that this will only increase the probablility of Holyfield getting permanently and irrevocably hurt, if he is not already.

This hole stuff about having an american champion is also crap. What US is the only one worthy of having a HW title? Is this the only way the division is any good is if the champ is american? And how long do you guys actually think he will hold that title?

And frankly, until these guys start fighting eachother and show the word that they are the best, I don't think any of them are real champs. Even Wlad who keeps fighting people that don't have a chance in hell of beating him. It is like he decided to take 10 fight streak of tune ups so he can recover from being knocked out twice.

I'm sorry, I'm just venting cuz this is starting to get frustrating.

Evander worked for all his titles and is one of the most exciting fighters to step in the ring ever

I find that statement so hypocritical... Seeing that in your post you said Sultan wasnt a real champ to begin with so per your standards the unification bout is a total farce

Noone is saying that the US is the only country worthy of a HW title, but being American I see no problem with wanting an American champ. Just like if you had a chance to have a champ from your country (don't know where you are from) wouldn't you support him?
