CC for the info,I'll be rooting for Calderon too. The guy has P4P skills. Anyone seen his last fight v Ronald Barerra I think ?>? An sd? Sounded like a close fight from the reports.

    Lol..Just checked your sig..

Man, its one thing to have one guy dominate your sigs etc..

But two guys hanging on your sigs and avatar :P Bro you might have a gambling problem :P

Lol.. I only caught some brief highlights of Ivans last fight so i couldnt honestly tell you how close the fight was or not.. from what i saaw he had his moments..

Thing is about ivan is he is undefeated but far from untouchable..Much like a tito like lure to him as he seems vulnerable at times as tito was when he was knocked down.. But entertaining and gets his whits about him in the nick of time..

And although his rec would suggest he has little power, i dont buy that too much, ive seen him bang a fair bit and he aint no Paulie.. I love paulie but its plain to see he is what he is, but calderon can hit but never seems to rack up the stopages

Sorry to rain on your parade but Cazares will beat Calderon....

Cazares needs to cut off the ring and not let Calderon move around soo much, Cazares needs to step side to side and cut off the ring. He also needs to stay busy and not just cut off the ring and that's it... He needs to be letting his hands go while he does this to try and catch Calderon with hooks up stair and down stairs as Calderon moves from side to side...

Now Calderon is slick enough to move away early on but how will the weight fare him? What about his chin? IMO it's never been tested Cazares is hard pucher and punches well with both hands.

Should be a really exciting fight.....

I'm rooting for Calderon, but i gotta admit.... it's gonna be a steep mountain to climb. Tons of respect to Calderon for taking on a naturally bigger opponent. But Cazares may be a tougher test than some may anticipate.

I agree, the size difference may be a bit too much but with a guy like Calderon, you never know,I mean he has so much dam skill. He needs to use his jab more though.

Cazares will give Ivan a chin check for sure but how well does he cut the ring? How do we know he won't just be mesmerised and start following Calderon around? We've all seen that before, the puncher just following the boxer around. Huge huge kudos to Calderon for taking this fight.#,he didn't need to but he has done so. I just hope he wins!

I disagree here, when you say he didn't need to.
Cause I think he did, we've seen what he can do at Minimum and the quality of opposition has been OK nothing major.
Kyowa, Rachman, Niida and Pornsowat have been there in the top for a while now and fights haven't materialized so yeah IMO I think he did need to take on a big name. However I don't think he needed to move up in weight but he has chosen to do so, and that speaks volumes like when Montiel moved up to challenge Gonzalez......

Sorry, you said what I meant. He should credit because he did not need to move up in weight to get a big fight and the guys you mentioned are less dangerous than Hugo imo.

This fight is taking place in Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum at Puerto Rico. This is definitely the biggest challenge of Calderon's career up to now. Hard to admit for me, but I believe that Cazares have the greater chances of winning due to his strength and weight advantage. The challenge Calderon will face is to manage Cazares coming heavier and stronger than him for 12 rounds. I don't see Calderon with the power to KO Cazares having single digits KO (God please make me get wrong on this). However, Calderon has the skills to outbox Cazares and win a decision. Calderon has managed several times to win basically 12 rounds in his fights avoiding being punched and punching at will, great skills, this is the clear advantage for Calderon.

Trying to close the gap in physical advantage Calderon's group negotiated that the day of the fight any of them can weight more than 10 pounds over 108 (Cazares can weight more than 120 easily). They are also preparing Calderon body to support the physical pressure Cazares will apply developing muscular mass working with weights.

These are some reasons why we can not discard totally a victory of Calderon, although I admit that Cazares has the greatest chances of winning. This promises to be a great fight that I hope everyone has the chance to watch.

This is a great match-up. Although I feel Cazares is Calderon's toughest test to date; Calderon's a technically better fighter. I don't think the weight will be as much of an issue as some make out. Sure Cazares will apply pressure & comes with power but I feel Calderon's boxing ability will allow him to control the fight through to a decision win.

Definitely Calderon has the ability to beat anyone including Cazares, but he will need to be in the best shape of his life to manage Cazares pressure. And, Calderon is preparing his body to go stronger to the ring. The other key aspect I see is the contract of being at not more than 10 pounds over 108 the day of the fight. This promises to be a great fight that we should not miss, August 25 is the date.

cc bro, you got it. This is what boxing is all about! The best fighting the best! Calderon has already been compared to the great Ricardo Lopez & I see this fight as the 1st big step in making those comparisons more valid!
