Yeah...he's been in so many wars and great fights, although has faded from his prime with a fair few defeats recently. I hope he has made an awful lot of money from the game and can enjoy a long and prosperous retirement.
And as you mentioned, dignity and class will always be associated with him.
I do not think he will retire after this he won the fight with out doubt re-matchOriginally Posted by Just a Boxing Fan

“This is it,” said Morales, who had said he would fight once more in his hometown of Tijuana if he won Saturday. “I’m not going to fight anymore. I’ve taken far too many punches, particularly to the head area. Punches to the head are really beginning to bother me. Diaz is a very strong fighter.”
Do not need another member of the 'one too many' club.![]()
He will fight again but he just needs to lower the level of comp he faces like Holyfield and Jones did after their back to back lossesOriginally Posted by Smashup
I was worried last night that Erik was going to show up with nothing in the tank like Gatti vs. Gomez. I was glad to see that didn't happen, Erik fought very hard in a tough fight.
We all know that fighters never retire after a win, it's always after a loss. This is the perfect time for Morales to retire, because he lost, but he gave a very respectable account of himself and went out on his feet.
I just hope he does retire. David Diaz isn't very good, Morales would get beaten by a wide margin by the other Diaz's or Casamayor.
While I hope he does retire..... man, will I miss watching him fight. He provided more thrillers over the years than any other fighter in boxing. He'll be in the Hall of Fame 5 years from now when he becomes eligible.
a sad day indeedcouldn't sleep last night mainly due to a mixture of how pissed off i was and how sad i was to hear Morales say he's retired (although i admit he should), he looked great last night (obviously not the Morales that was the king of the featherweight division), and earned himself the WBC lightweight title, he stuck true to what has made him a living legend (a legend at only 30 yrs of age), he went out as a true warrior and IMO proved many of the critics wrong, they said that he was going to be "changed" after the Pacquiao fights, and he fought with the same syle that made him a great. IMO hands down, the best fighter from Mexico since Julio Cesar Chavez, then followed by Marco Antonio Barrera (although it's close), would love to see Morales back in the ring as a trainer, but he deserves the respect and his place in history that he's earned, QUE VIVA EL TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!
