Default Clinton Woods: WTF is he doing with his career ???

This guy is really starting to piss me off now for several reasons. He's 35 years old and the IBF LH Weight champ of the world and why isn't he in the US, trying to unify the division and putting big names on his record and going back for rematches etc . Firstly why on earth is he fighting Julio Cesar Gonzalez AGAIN he beat him the 1st time and what has Gonzalez done since that Shouldn't he be tageting Dawson, Erdei , Drews or even calling out Hopkins or maybe a rematch with RJJ. The third encounter with Johnson I had him losing by 2 rounds also.

I am not anti-woods or anytrhing but seriousley could somebody tell me WTF is going on in that head of his

Woods isn't anything more than a decent fighter at best. There would be little point in him trying to take America by storm because America simply wouldn't care.

You really think HBO would be interested in putting together a fightcard around Clinton Woods

Glen Johnson is a better fighter, more exciting to watch, is American and has beaten both of Americas best light heavies of the past 5 or 6 years and HBO and Showtime don't care about him, what chance would Woods have?

It's basically the same as asking why Adam Woodywatt (Ian Beale from Eastenders) hasn't moved on to bigger and better things and taken Hollywood by storm

Maybe a rematch with Jones at this point in Jones career might make it interesting enough to see what Jones has left and maybe Woods would win. Who knows.

Woods has been injured. Not sure what the point is going in with Gonzalez again...It'll probably be Johnson 4 next.

Shame they couldn't sort the Roy Jones fight out. He needs a big payday against someone he has a decent chance against.

I know, I've been beating this drum myself. Beating guys you've already beaten is the safe option. He did this with Jason Delisle on the Collazo-Hatton undercard. He's becoming the bigger version of Pongsaklek!

It's a warm up fight after his injury/operation

    Give him 6 months

If he can hold onto his belt another couple years there's always the prospect of him and Calzaghe, although I'm hoping Calzaghe stays at super middle and sets the record for all time title defenses first.

Woods is wasting alot of time he was supposed to get a shot against Calzaghe after 3rd fight with Johnson i would have rather seen Woods vs Calzaghe than Calzaghe vs Manfredo thats for sure.

Roy Jones would destroy him if they fought again, so would Hopkins, Erdei, Tarver, Dawson and Drews

This is where I have to intercede, to say that the current Roy Jones would be able to beat Woods at present is crazy talk. Quite frankly, he looked vulnerable in his last two fights, and before then hadn't won in three. If Jones went in there today even an average champion like Woods would be able to outmuscle and outwork him. Jones is shot, and until he proves he still has any sort of quality, then Woods would gain no credibility from a revenge win, just a bit of satisfaction.

As for his career, he has been trying to take the Ricky Hatton bandwagon to international fame, but without exposure on undercard fights, then he'll never sell anything in the states. The reason he's fighting in the UK is just cause this is where he can sell tickets. Would hope he improves his opposition in coming fights though.

I really hope Gonzalez beats him this time around.
Gonzalez needs to dig deep and put on a great performance don't let the judges decide the fight for you.

Gonzales is his mandatory. He has to fight him to keep the belt. It is not Woods fault and he was injured for the Hatton v Castillo undercard fight.

I think he should try and avenge his loss to Roy Jones junior then go for Tarver or one of the other champions.

Maybe a Hopkins fight? Hopkins could stay busy that way instead of waiting for the Kessler/Calzaghe winner. Good solid boxer tho, just a little to predictable.

The inactivity due to continous injuries is a shame because he has improved a good deal, he's a nice guy and he'll fight anyone. I think he'll beat Gonzalez, and have one last crack at a big name.

Calzaghe does not deserve that record; he was not a legitimate champ until he beat Lacy. No way does he have any business beating Louis' record of 25 defenses as UNDISPUTED champ.
