Default Just watch Edwin Valero and............................

After watching Valero as a potential PACMAN oponant , i couldnt help but compare him in fighting style to the great Khoasai Galaxy.
Broad strong shoulders and so strong at the weight, he is kinda exciting but i personally think PACMAN would KO him quickly as he would be to fast for him.
What do you guys think of the comparison Valero and Galaxy ?
Any other fighter you can think of who are similer in styles ?

Valero is like Pacman when Pacman was still raw. I can't help but compare the two. I've seen Pacman when he was still fighting in Blow by Blow. Valero really was like him.

I've never seen or heard Valero throw over 100 punches per round, not that I know of.

Valero is nothing like PACMAN apart from hes a leftie
hes slower of foot and hand
as i said he reminds me of Galaxy a strong merciless walk-in slugger

    cc to you my friend.

he could only use his style as a strong merciless slugger if he's fighting the non-elites. i bet you he's getting overwhelmed by MAB during sparring. remember when pac used to be left happy? he let marquez get away even though he dropped him 3 times in round 1.

I want to see Edwin Valero in action but Galaxy was a sawn off Hagler who just threw bombs and overwhelmed fighters and from Edwin Valero record he certainly does that. Is he allowed in the US?

Galaxy was a leftie like Marvin and powerful , but i think its a bit harsh on Marvin who was a much better boxer.

Galaxy is an all time great with incredible power and uncoomon ability to close out a fight once he sensed his opponent was hurt. I saw him fight live in Thailand and will never forget how great and imposing he was. He was built like Superman and would stalk, trap and execute his prey like a Serengeti predator. He was something else. I can see some of the same with Valero who can box and punch. He is slower than Galaxy, but has a lot of time to catch up. All in all, not a bad comparison.

Anybody here remember when Valero was something like 18-0 and people had already began to speak of him facing pac?

Well it was a stupid idea then and it's still stupid now Valeros not ready yet IMO and would be blasted out and overwhelmed by Pac I don't doubt that Valero will stand his ground but it wont work for long. Valeros best opponent is Mosquera now compare Mosquera to Pac and they are worlds apart and Valero somewhat had a tough time with the durable Mosquera. If Pacs still at Super Feather by 2008 and judging by Valero rumored to fight in Mexico this year I think he could possibly fight again early very early 2008 and then somewhere around April-May I think he could be up and ready for the challenge. Going by that he fight World Class opposition and not some 19, 20 ranked contenders. Maybe Barrios can be ready by then, who knows theres also Sirimongkol Singwancha whos racked up some nice wins.

I loved Galaxy. He's an all time great.

Pacman would be too fast and to direct with his punches for Valero right now. I think he'd win by KO in the middle rounds.

I've been hearing about Valero for years especially as the boys from Maxboxing were trumping on about his fantastic sparring sessions in LA gyms. Apparently he was outboxing contenders and champs while still a 10 fight novice. However, watching videos of his bouts he's just an all out slugger!

I don't think Edwin can fight in the US as he's banned by the New York State Athletic Commission after an MRI scan showed up damage from a motorcycle accident back in 2000. The ban is upheld by all US commissions.

It's our loss as he's an exciting fighter to watch. He's in the same division as so many good fighters.

valero is nothing like pac, only thing similar is the soutpaw stance. In sparring valero looks real good but like they all say, theres a big difference between sparring and the real fight. Valero has been looking good against c level fighters with soft chins and weak legs. once he fights any elite very condition, his going to get a beat down or a boxing lesson. HIs power is overrated and once he steps up his level of oppenents his the one that will be k.o out. His already been drop by guys not known for power, imagin one of the elite with elite power hitting him. His exciting and all but so far any of the elite will give him a beat down.

They were going on about those videos are rightfully so. I have them and have watched them over and over and it's amazing. In sparring, his technique is sooooooooo much better and he does not load up so much, his handspeed is quicker. Dougie Fischer has been watching sparring sessions for over 25 years and the best 3 camps he's ever seen are Floyd at 130,Shane at the lower weights and...Valero.

In the videos'(there are quite a few),he spars with Morales for his first fight with Pac and he HAMMERS him, rocking him to his boots in one parring session,landing5,6 hit combinations on Morales and backing him up(NO ONE had done this to Morales up until this point and Morales did fight back,I don't think he was taking it lightly).

In other sessions,he spars 14 rounds with the Santa Cruz brothers, and he rocks Urbano Antillion(a good prospect at 18-0) so badly, that they had to stop the session.

They may only be sparring but that's not the point, the point is he displays so much better skills and technique than he does in the real fight. Even his manager mentioned this. For some reason, when he goes into the ring,he just wants to hurt and KO his opponents.

And because he can,he does so. When the power does not work and he loses, then and only then will he revert to his skills. Until that time comes,I envisage him KOing opponents with his wild, savage style.

Agreed. Edwin Valero is just a heavier version of Vic Darchinyan. He's just so overrated and overhyped and I can't wait for him to get KTFO by an A class fighter. The main reason he's still has clean record is he can't fight top names,... and top names mostly fights in the US.
