Default who here felt JT could've KOed Pavlik??

i just felt JT wasnt aggressive enough thru the middle rounds, he kept throwing flurries only when he got back against the rope. it just didnt look like he wanted to knock him out.
on the other hand, Pavlik kept coming and coming and eventually caught JT.
    what do you guys think?

He had his chance in the second round but he wasn't accurate enough and allowed Pavlik to hold and recuperate. If you get a guy that hurt, it's time to shorten up on the punches and throw straight. You have to be able to go for the kill when you have the chance. Watch some early mike tyson videos, if you want to see killer instinct.

he gameplan of just countering did work out..he has looked tentative since the hopkins fights..... And i think the fact that he could NOT finish pavlik off must of frustrated him to hell.

If he was a better fighter he would have finished Pavlik off, he had plenty of time. Aside from that round Taylor looked awful. He was constantly backing himself up and going to the ropes, which is never smart especially against a puncher with a reach advantage. I have to admit I was wrong about Pavlik. I gave him little chance but he proved he has all the championship qualities tonight and should be proud.

He looked like he punched himself out at the end of round 2! After that, it looked as though he was content to box to a decision! Which I think he was well on his way to doing! But the boxing gods smiled on us, and gave us Pavliks sweet right hand!

Jermaine hung onto his amatuer trainers way too long. If Manny had been able to start training him 7 or 8 years ago, I believe we'd see a much more patient and skilled fighter who "could" end fights like this using skill, timing, placement and punch selection. However, jermaine has had lots of trouble listening to manny and adapting to the style that manny wants him to fight, and its all because it came too late in his boxing career, JT is a prime example of how important it is for a young fighter to have the right people in place to help them reach their full potiental. Becasue JT made the move to manny so late, I'm afraid we will never see what hetruly could have been

It's not all training. The boxer must possess the ability of awareness and adaptability in the ring. The trainer can only do a little bit. Good luck is also part of sports that trainers can't provide. In order to succeed in any sport you have to consistently have good luck on your side. Not to say raw talent and skill is not important, but skill alone will not make you a winner.

He obviously had his chance to knock him out, I still can't figure out how he didn't knock him out in the 2nd

I'm not taking anything away from Pavlik's performance because that was a great showing of heart and skill, but the fight should've ended in round 2. That refree was extremely slow to break the clinch. Pavlik had a hell of a night though coming back and beating the hell out of Jermain. I call for a rematch i think that was a great fight.

Taylor had him in deep shit in the second, what heart from Pavlik to come back after being wobbled so hard.

This reminds me of Cotto/Judah. Even if Cotto had not hit Judah in the v@gina, Cotto would have still whooped that azz like he did.

Just because you have a man dazed does not mean they are done. Cotto never even went down for a count. Pavlik was not only knocked down, he was dazed out on his feet and queer streeting.

I will just laugh at FrozenStupid for thinking a low blow can change a fight so bad that it will cause a champion to lose.
The boy knows nothing about boxing again.

And to Slacker, Smoger is one of the best ref's out there.
