Roys body was in a mess for that fight.
I'm not a roy fan, so im not making excuses for him but his body was in a mess.
Whether it was due to the drop from heavy or from attempting to make weight, we'll never no. But ever=ybody who watched that fight knows that roy wasn't Roy that night.

Roy seemed to go bad over night .

He was so great against Ruiz and looked unstoppable . Then in his very next fight he struggled with Tarver then got knocked out by Tarver then got knocked out by Johnson then got beat again by Tarver . I havent seen a fighter depreciate this quick since Bowe .

The Johnson fight was shame cuz people were still thinking the loss to Tarver could have been a 1 shot fluke. But from early on his midn seemed elsewhere . He made excuses about his dad in the 3rd Tarver fight but I reckon his body could take the drop in weight so late in his career and once the reflexes had gone so had his best weapon . Johnson scored a great K.o that night but everyone knows a prime Jones would have skooled him .

The drop in weight after the Ruiz fight was definitely a factor i feel. And as for the Ko losses to Tarver, doesn't it seem that a fighter who has been knocked out once is easier to Ko again I feel the groundwork for all Ko's on Jones was laid in the Johnson fight.

Not really.I think Jones Shaved off a couple of years with his ecscapade to heavy weight and that was a turning point.Imo jones lost 1st tarver fight, the 2nd he was proven to be a mortal man and Johnson Put the exclamation point on that.He set the pace in the 1st 3o seconds bull rushing Jones effectivly.Jones is full of charisma and will do well after he retires which personnaly I believe should come in 1 or 2 years.Hes going for the $$$ now (whats new)with this "fight" with Use to be great welter Tito.Cha-Ching.

....he wasn't the same after his drop in weight

IMO he should have stayed at heavyweight to fight Chris Byrd, James Toney, Evander Holyfield and maybe some other smaller guys

I agree a rematch with Toney at Heavyweight would of been huge he should of forgot about Tarver.

RJJ made Tarver AND Buddy McGirt somebodies by giving them the first fight AND MORE IMPORTANTLY the rematch!

    They didn't deserve it

It really annoys me when i watch Tarver fights because i know Jones is much better fighter than Tarver and in the 3rd fight Jones could of won easily he won 4th and 5th rounds easy as pie but kept making faces and taunting rather than fighting what a shame.

    It was the weight.

I don't believe in all that juggling. Your body just can't take it...not in that short of a time span.

Floyd needs to be careful of this also. It's a proven fact that jumping up & down ruins careers.

I want Mayweather to stay at Welterweight and never move up or down again theres plenty of big fights for Mayweather at Welterweight and funny you should mention that Wacko because i was thinking the samething and was just about to reply with the comment about Mayweather.

    Yeah...it's gonna be Floyd's downfall...wait & see.

You can't keep jumping up & down. Pick a weight & stay where your body is comfy & you get the best performance.

147 seems right for Floyd & there's plenty of money there.

....the thing with weight is you always have to move up, never move back down unless it's down 1 weight class.

RJJ went from 175 to 200+ and then back down to 175....that's a TON of weight when you factor in body fat percentage

Exactly...but a lot of it is also water. Roy was sweatin off a shit pot load of weight for that fight & that shit leaves ya drained & dehydrated.

If you look at him...he almost had a saggy eyed sickly look to him during the Tarver fights & the Johnson fight. He just started gettin back to norm of late.

Totally in agreement here, his skin colour looked odd too. as if his body was going through an illness. I've read the same thing about Sugar Ray Leonard in some of his lastb fights also.
