Default Sugary Ray Leonard vs Oscar De La Hoya

Both were golden boys, both were pretty boys, had lightning fast hands, very sturdy chins, were commanding figures in their times and dominant at welterweights. Man the list of similarities is exhausting who would win and why.
"Very few people really understand what it means to be a fighter. I hate it when I hear someone say, 'That fighter doesn't have guts. I hate that, I don't care if you're a world champion six times over or a four-round fighter, to step inside that ring, you have to have guts" Oscar De La Hoya

Sugar ray, as good a boxer oscar is sugar ray was better. Oscar has better power but would not land often, hearns the only boxer to give him trouble or guys who swarmed him. Delahoya is not a better boxer than hearns and cant swarm him. Sugar ray ud.

Sugar Ray was able to adapt when needed in fights. Oscar hasn't. Leonard by UD12.

It all depends on what era your talking about, 21 year old Leonard would beat 21 DLH, but 28 year old DLH would beat 28 Leonard, I think.

this fight is actually a toss up, remember that the young Leonard liked try and beat people at their own game (example, Leonard/Duran I) so i think it would have been a close fight, but i'm pretty sure it would have gone the distance

    Sugar Ray everytime!

He stepped up & won all his superfights, unlike Oscar.

Leonard on consistency alone would pull it out because they had good attributes but Leonard was the better boxer. Speed was also a plus and speed in this case negates power.

Sugar ray would stop him within 11.

Im disapointed by a ring magazine article about how todays middleweights are like the 80s era of hearns, hagler, leornard. You know, oscars like sugar ray, hopkins is like hagler, and hearns is like tito. The sad thing is that they not only picked tito over hearns(which is bullshit)but they also made it sound like de la hoya-leornard would be a good fight! It wouldnt! Ray had beat hearns, hagler, and duran. Who did oscar beat? Vargas !?

Lost 1st fight with Duran, he definitely lost the second Hearns fight, was schooled by Hearns in the 1st fight, until jelly legs crumbled, probably lost Hagler fight. I think Leonard was excelent, but overated. I think Hearns was a better fighter, with a weak chin and legs, Duran was better p4p and Hagler was better period

Couldn't call a fight between SRL and DLH!
