Default Too Bad Boxing Doesn't Have A "TapOut"...

I mean a similar reality show. I haven't been that much of a MMA fan, but sometimes I'll stumble on it and watch it.

Tonight I turned on the tube and saw a MMA fight on, got excited, and backed up in the buffer to the start of the program. At first I was like WTF, is this WWF? The stars of the show were all dressed goofy, so I started FFing. Then I saw that they were showing the training, and as I watched those segments, I got used to the TapOut guys.

Actually, the only part I didn't care for about the show, was the way those guys were made up. Despite how they looked, they really weren't cheesy at all, except for SkySkraper (sp?), and even he wasn't that bad.

Too bad there's not a boxing show that seeks out prospects, looks in on their trainer and training regimen, and covers their fight. I think they even help them set up a fight and develop their career, and in one episode they cornered for a fighter who's trainer couldn't make it. Plus, you get to see the whole fight and although I'm no expert on MMA, to me it looked like the level of the fighters was pretty good.

I DVRed three episodes, and after the first one, I got used to the TapOut guys and watched the whole show.

I did a search before posting this and the only reference I found was by DaxxKahn who said, "I must admit I am guilty of watching WEC and my fav reality show of all time TapOut." I have to agree!

I hope someone can put together a similar show for boxing. It would blow "The Contender" away!

reality tv is taking over.....it's all getting a bit silly really

and manfredo vs calzaghe is an example of what happens when a reality tv star gets a world title on the back of his television popularity.

Well that's what's refreshing about "TapOut". It's really more of a documentary, than reality TV.

Huh, first time I noticed that SkySkraper has his own emoticon here!

    It's a pretty kool show.
    I like their bottled water.
I can not find a pic of their water anywhere. Those of you who have seen the show know what I am talking about. I did however think they were a bit strange the first couple of times I watched the show. Funny guys.

I like the show too, but can't stand the way that one guy with the camo and paint on his face laughs all the time; it gets annoying. Someone should put Mike Tyson, Micky Ward, and Roberto Duran on a bus and see what happens on cross country trips.

boxing takes skill, guys can win MMA belts with fuck all expereince...

Now i like the ufc, i aint a hatter.. but championships change hands more than money in a crack den. Good champs in boxing last a long time, or good prospects are known. you can't find some 5 or 10 and 0 boxer in some back alley club and do anything with him because by the time he is good enough to mix it with a real class fighter no one will really remebember him...

And lets be hones,t most boxing fans these days just to it to slag off and slate boxers and their records.. the UFC doesnt have the hatters.. YET

That's a really good point cc. So maybe the whole promo part wouldn't work, but getting to know the fighter, his training and trainer, and covering the fight (unedited) including behind the scenes, would still be interesting. Perhaps covering fighters close to breaking through, or ready to step it up?
