Thread: Speed Bag,how the heck do i use it?!

hey i just bought a heavy bag/speed bag stand and the heavy bag works fine and the speedbag is setup i dont know how to use the speedbag though,like i mean do i just punch it like crazy or whats the technique to it?

I'll tell u the way I learned. Stand square to the bag, strike it with the front of your fist. The bag will hit the back of the platform, then the front and then the back again. Then you strike it again. I did two strikes with each hand. Go slow at first. Remember, hitting with the knuckles flush keeps the bag moving in a straight line. Just count, when you hit the bag, 1-2-3-hit, 1-2-3-hit. good luck. Once you ge the hang of it you can speed things up. It's really not as hard as it seems.

I am looking at getting a speed bag soon , what do they help u improve on ?

Speed, hand-eye co-ordination, endurance.

Plus you look great when you do it well

Something I also use my own for since my gym has one and I dont is a slip bag.... I hit once and practice moving around a bit.

i picked one up and after three days of messing around i had a good feel for what i was doing and my coordination has improved so much since then its not even funny.

I went on a speed bag for the first time the other day and found it really hard at first, but after about half an hour you get the hang of it.
