Default Juan Diaz's Type Of Aggression Would Give Mayweather Fits.

I don't mean Diaz vs Mayweather, what i mean is that someone with fast hands and puts punches together in quick combos with constant pressure like Diaz. I think that style would work best against Mayweather what do you guys think ??

Agreed Mayweather would have to be aggressor vs Hearns and as good as Mayweather is he would find it incredibly difficult to get on inside vs Hearns based on Hearns height and reach plus Hearns famous flicker jab would be in Mayweather's face all the time i think Mayweather would be stopped in 9.

That's a pretty good observation and though Diaz doesn't have the power, as fast and often as he gets off his punches coupled with a good chin and that constant effective pressure, it could cause Floyd to try to make it an inside war. Could see someone like Diaz getting a points victory because of his amazing activity level and he never seems to tire. I think he is a better pressure fighter than Hatton in that he throws so many more punches than Ricky and sets a certain pace and doesn't deviate from it, which is where his great conditioning helps him so much. Hatton will not throw as many punches and seems like he uses holding to rest at times, whereas Juan just keeps going.

Kind of. It depends on the size of the guy.

I mean i cant help it. What i saw Dela Hoya do for me was the master plan. Keep a tight, TIGHT defence on the outside, feint shots, make Mayweather commit, back him up with jabs, get him on the ropes and unload.

A reach advantage would be ideal though. Floyds been 97.3% lucky in that department

I heard Diaz goes swimming 7 days a week plus they say he can punch at that pace for an hour

    Disagree.

There's this old boxing adage that the way to beat a great finesse fighter like Mayweather is with constant aggression and flurries, and I've always completely disagreed with it.

You'll see next week, Hatton will charge in constantly (like Diaz would) and Floyd will simply take a step back and nail him with a counter shot, then Hatton will charge again, and Floyd will step to the side and nail him with a counter. Over and over, for 12 rounds.

The type of fighter who can beat Floyd is a tall fighter with long arms and a good jab. Short stocky fighters with short arms and no jab have no chance against Floyd.

The fighters who could give Floyd trouble are guys like Paul Williams or a young Vernon Forrest, those guys were both exceptionally tall and rangy for welterweights. Short power punchers like Hatton and Diaz are the type of guys that Mayweather can toy with for 12 rounds.

If he swam seven days a week, no way in hell would he be that soft looking.
Plus he'd have shoulders the size of Vida Guerras ass

Yeah he's deceiving as he looks like a chubby boy, but man his output is awesome and watching him make Diaz and Freitas quit was pretty impressive. And his speed is better than what you would expect. He's no Floyd in that department, but then who is? But his body attack then going upstairs with 5/6 punch combos then down again and doing it every round is pretty inspiring. I'd love to see him and Hatton meet at 140, as I think he could take Ricky in a 12 round fight. Same height and Diaz has a 2 inch reach advanage, and he won't let Ricky hold and tee off on him IMO. Whether he could beat Floyd I doubt it, just too short and that reach Floyd has, as mentioned previously, is murder on his opponents.

I just had a look at the title and it sounds like im saying Diaz's style is the only style that would work the best against Mayweather but i don't mean that.

But i do think Diaz's style could give Mayweather fits and im big Mayweather fan saying this, Chavez had some success but he couldn't put his punches together very well an wasted loads of punches and Castillo put effective pressure on but his hands were nowhere near as fast as Diaz nor does he throw combinations.

I agree with your theory that a good tall rangy fighter would give Mayweather all he could handle guys like Hearns, Forrest, Williams, i have always said out of the Welterweights Williams will give Mayweather the most problems based on his size and workrate.

Exactly. If Williams continues to develop as a fighter and Floyd would actually be willing to fight him (which he wont)...Mayweather could be in for a difficult night. Hearns would have been a huge challenge as well...great jab and length coupled with his enormous power.

But remember, these guys are al 5ft 11+

Would they be as effective if they were 5ft 8?

I never thought about Hearns vs PBF.
That would have been an iteresting match up.
I agree that Floyd would have to be very, veryaggressive in order to beat Hearns for sure.

Being aggressive isn't Floyd's style and he certainly wouldn't be eager to be aggressor against such a devastating puncher like Hearns.
