Default How do I defend against combos?

When your opponent is hitting you with combos, it is almost impossible to see the punches coming, especially in my weight division. What should I do if I am constantly gettin tagged with combos. I know slipping or dodging each punch is not an option. Should I just cover up until his combo is over then attack with my combo? Or should I try to guess his next punch and try to time a counter (this will only work if I get lucky tho)? What do you do?

Dont cover up too much cause he's still pounding on you making you weaker so you should control where you want him to go by moving - you're in control so now you can fake him to the left/right and counter - you may only get one shot in at a time but at least you're getting there - practice

I mean tired from getting pounded on - I thought the arms would get weaken/swollen from combo pounding - I dunno... maybe some one here has experienced this? Not me!

better they punch your arms than your face.

Covering up is a temporary measure, you are supposed to move or throw a counter.

i would: cover up, trow jabs (with timing) to f*ck up his flow, and keep moving.

Use an old indian trick to defend combos. Knock them out.

The move bit sounded good to me! Cover first of course.
They cant continue to hit whats not there.
Run out on an angle, make them follow and catch them comming.

Someone good in close can bring your guard up or down while launching combos; in this case move out to the side and throw straight controlling shots on them so they have to turn towards you to start over again; but have to turn into your shots at the same time.

Or You could glue to their lead arm push it in and stick with it controlling them as you go out that same way ,away from their other arm fast and throw down on them hard as they turn to face you.

OR you could feel their shot hit you ,follow it back in ,go in further to choke that side of them off and throw the uppercut in there or short hook if their arm drops (do both!launch your own combo) just watch that other arm of theirs, cover its path with your inside arms uppercut as your other arm and body crush controlls their other one.

    I can explain it.
But I cant understand it for you.

I'd try covering up and moving around very fast until he gets tired, and then throwing my combos.

try moving forward while looking for an opening then smash them where the opening is. This will make them move back and you will have the advantage

i see people say to move and wait till he gets tired.
i know everybody has other visions on this, but what kind of fight are we talking about??

is it a sparring sesion with alot of rounds? then it might work.

is it an amateur bout? then it wont work (unless the oppost is in a VERY bad shape and should not box).
cuz of the few rounds you box rounds (and mayb even 2min rounds) you will trow away your fight by waiting.

during a sparring sesion with alot of rounds this could work BUT, don't make this your routine cuz you will do this during a real bout without you even knowing it, and prob lose cuz he wil not run out of gas in a
3x2min or 3x3 min bout. so i would not put this in my training, cuz you will do this in a bout against some 1 who keeps doing combo's on your ass.

so i dont know why you should wait during a fight, but mayb some1 knows :
cuz i see this advise often, and i just cant see the advantage in a 3 round fight (unless your pro and got 15 to go)
