Firstly, let me apologise to the Floyd fans. Hatton is getting alot of attention after the fight, moreso than Mayweather. This is because Hatton's options are more interesting than Floyd's condsidering Floyd has announced his retirement......again.
Now, if I was Hatton, I'd personally take on De La Hoya. My thinking is that at 147, although the bigger man, De La Hoya would barely make weight. As such, his power would be slightly counterfeited. Secondly, the purse would maybe equal the Mayweather fight for Ricky. Thirdly, this would take place in the UK, which means I would not only would I get to go to it, but the general interest would be huge. Wembley would be full. Finally, if he was somehow able to defeat Oscar, it would be an awesome feat.
The alternative probably involves three to four more fights at 140. Witter, Malignaggi, Torres and maybe Diaz if he stepped up. These fights combined would earn him probably the same as he would get for Oscar alone. The desire to take this route lies in the long term glory. At the time, a victory over Oscar would maybe be seen as a perfect end to Hatton's career, however in hindsight, a decade from now, if he was able to clean up at 140 for the second time, he would be seen as maybe one of the greatest 140lb fighters of all time.
Arguably the 140lb option is easier to overcome than getting a win over oscar, but again, a fight with Oscar in England would see the largest attendance in British Boxing history, and the world, plus he wouldn't have to give Witter a payday
Just a final note. Mayweather is a god, we all know it. Hatton is a useless bum and this is something that everyone on the forum has concluded. So please Violent Demise and Bilbo, no need for you guys to post anything in here, we all agree with you anyhow![]()
