I know ancient records have stories of cultures lifting huge objects by levitation as well.

Do you think that is true Bibs?
"If there's a better chin in the world than Pryor's, it has to be on Mount Rushmore." -Pat Putnam.
Well it's true that scientist's have been able to do it by manipulating what is called the Casimir force', kind of like reverse magnetism.
In the ancient world there were accounts of culture's being able to lift objects by banging large drums and chanting.
Scientists have also been able to replicate this 'acoustic' levitation although on a much smaller scale.
My own thoughts are that the ancient tales are massively exaggerated but that some people have been able to levitate either themselves or small objects by manipulating the forces mentioned above.
It's pure science not paranormal and it wouldn't suprise me if some ancient cultures and maybe even native cultures today are able to harness that power without realising the scientifics of it.
It's interesting stuff though I think.
Here's an interesting weblink

I don't know what to make of it. Certainly the ancient's built structures that we have no idea how they built them even today.
I love ancient history and mythology. One of my favourite subjects.
You should get some course on anthropolgy or something Bilbo. Maybe the gov't could even fund it since you are a useless bastard 'as is'?

haha I'd love to do that but I have a disease called 'chronic idleness' that prevent's me from doing anything remotely stressful or work relatedOriginally Posted by boozeboxer
I think if you forced yourself into a little structure you would be happier perhaps. I know that I am happier when I do things. Also it wouldn't be considered work or stressful if it is something that you really enjoy.

Hey Bilbo have you seen that one Yogi in India I believe that can stand on his head for days on end? Heres the kicker his head is buried underground!!!
I'm an anthropology/history major, it's a lot less work than you'd think. Of course, I'm only in my 2nd year.Originally Posted by Bilbo

What do you make of all the ancient legends and mythologies?
I love history too. It is definetly one of my favourite subjects.. Especially when you get into the realms of some of the things that humans were able to a acheive thousands of years ago that humans with todays technology STILL can't figure out how the accomplished them... Let alone would struggle to replicate the same structures with todays technology and billions of dollars...Originally Posted by Bilbo
Below is a link to a 3 DVD series that is dedicated to all the amazing structures that were built so long ago and the mysteries that surround them...
Like these HUGGGGEEEEE 15 tonne stones they found at the top of himylain mountains that could only have been brought from 100's of miles away, and taken up to an altitude where it's a struggle to even breathe.
Some of the building with the masonary soooo precise that no where in the building can you even fit a razor blade between 2 rocks, they are carved so perfectly by hand.
Their is one city on an island called ponepei or something like that, and they literally have absolutely no idea how they could have built the ruines that are there today....
Although the narrator/writter does not point our levitation or 'woo woo' as a possible solution to the mystery, he does point out a number of times on the dvd's that, their are very very few alternative explanations to how these amazing structures could have been put together..
I suggest ANYONE check these out... Even if you aren't into history, this series will MAKE YOU.
The 1st DVD is a little slow but does point out some amazing things about how the egyptians and other civilizations had an amazing knowledge of the stars that rivals the knowledge we only came across 40 or 50 years ago via technology...
The 2nd and 3rd DVD's go much much deeper into the mysteries, with DVD 3 really leaving you in absolute awe of the world we live in and that as much as we think we have all the answers, their still could be some truths that could turn it all upside down.

That's an AWESOME link buddy! Grabbing the first one now, first time my rapidshare account has ever been used for something other than porn
Always great when you meet someone with similar diverse interests on here, I've had plenty a discourse with Sharla and Andre and it's nice to meet people who know a great deal about subjects that most people arn't interested in.
My car is going in for MOT this morning so hopefully when I get back the first DVD will have downloaded.
I've see a bit of Graham Hancock and obviously know the titles of his books but I've never read any so this will be great. I know he's not recognised by 'proper' anthropologists and historians but there's certainly more than meets the eye when it comes the ancient world imo.
Another guy I find interesting whose work is taken seriously by the mainstream is David M Rohl, the Egyptologist. I especially like his work because, as a fan of biblical history Rohl is one of the few secular (I think he is anyway) scholars who dates the Exodus from Egypt as 1440 BC as opposed to the 1200's BC's that most Egyptologists adhere to. This new chronology is absolute dynamite imo as it completely harmonises the Bible with the records of ancient Egypt.
The princess who pulled Moses out of the river would have been none other than Hathuspet herself and the Egyptian Pharoah Akhenaten would have been the Pharoh who drove Moses out of Egpyt. His denouncement of the Egyptian Gods and the installation of worship of Aten the Sun God, going against centuries of Egyptian history then makes perfect sense in that context.
Can't wait to watch these, thanks a lot.![]()
