Default One Thing I Liked About Roy Jones Jr Last Night.

Except when he taunted Tito a few times he held his guard up very well. Im glad he realized he isn't in his 20s anymore, plus he actually used the jab more than we normally see, im glad Jones is learning more boxing basics now, forget Hopkins and Calzaghe i want him to revenge those losses to Johnson and Tarver

Excellent point. He should avenge the losses to Johnson and Tarver and close the book on his career.

His defence was excellent last night and not in the usual 'roy jones' slipping and sliding kind of way but in a boxing basics kind of way. Tito could never get through. Still showed flashes of the old Jones as well. I'm not sure what to make of his victory though..although he showed improvement it was against Tito, who I'm sorry, but is as one dimensional as they come. Always has been.
Good idea's about him avenging the losses to tarver and johnson..I'm not sure he'd be able to hang with Joe Calzaghe and I wouldn't want Joe to have the pleasure of Roys name on his CV.

Ahhh... but that "one dimension" has sure served him well throughout his HOF career, now hasn't it....

Sure has up until he has fought elite names like Oscar, Bhop, Winky, Jones..even Vargas to an extent made him look one dimensional

Oscar ran like a deer after feeling a punch from that "one dimension", and Vargas? Please... don't even go there. Vargas was ruined by Trinidad, and Oscar benefited from this fact a couple of years later. So let's just shorten your list to B-Hop, Winky and Jones. ok?

Not according to the judges in Las Vegas.

One thing I did not like about Roy is he argued with his corner man between rounds...his corner told him he needed to circle to the right because he was getting caught with shots...he argued and said he wasn't ...I could see exactly what they were speaking of but Roy felt they were wrong.....

Also IMO Roy started to get a bit too cockey....OK Tito was not hurting him granted but Tito was catching him good early on and he could have pulled out a nice power shot and Roy would have ate it...maybe not been put down but all the same why take the chance?...because in other fights when he is not getting caught hard he will do it again...thats how he got KO'd by Johnson...being arrogant....

He did a good job with keeping his hands up last night but...I still see those little bad habits he can no longer afford to make due to the fact he is no longer young and has that natural ability to move out of the way quick enough

I've never even considered Jones fighting Tarver on Johnson again but they make perfect sense no that I have.

Whoever thought Oscar didn't beat Trinidad neat to get checked up... Trinidad was landing hardly anything against Oscar who wasn't really running at all... until the last 3 rounds. Apparently using footwork is running then Bernard, one of the toughest guys of the last 20 years, has been running for a good 6 years.

Jones put on a great fight. He did what he had to do to win and he did it well. He showed good defense and still had the speed! The only thing that i didn't like about Jones was the Showboating. I think a fighter of that level fighting another fighter of that level (really any fighter regardless of status) should definitely show respect. You may be superior in any and every way but your opponent is there just like you trying to win. Other than that Jones should try to avenge his loses for sure. Great job Jones!

Oh but that, sweeping feet and dancing strut he did after round 6 was soooo sweet. it cracked me up big time.

Please dont encourage him with a 4th Tarver fight :P. Johnson I could stomach but I dont think Jones would want those fights at all,Risk/reward ratio way off Imo.He wants and now believes he has earned a direct line to the top with Calzaghe and Hopkins. At this point why go backwards?
With respect to a great warrior in Trinidad,I think Jones is kidding himself if he believes a sustained drubbing over a natural welter who had gone 2-2 in 6 + years indicates he has been reborn and could duplicate it with Calzaghe,Hopkins,or even Johnson and cough....cough Tarver.Imo Jones wanted to prove something to himself ,that he still had it and could adjust with his new reality of age and vulnerability's.He seemingly rebounded nicely, put on some aggression, mixed in some old school razzle dazzle and dictated.Well done and a nice step but he is will not be what he once was Imo,none of us are......ecspecially in the buisness of fist-to-cuffs
I think he and a few of us should step back & take a deep breath before we dust off the P4P talk.

Felix Trinidad, thanks for the memories and great career.Always an honest fighter who brought it in some good firefights, climd off the canvas and did his best to deposit his opponents there.Yeh,Cocky as hell sometimes.....most of the time but gave everything and wore his heart on his sleeve.Much respect!
