    Default Haye vs Macarinelli

    Haye vs Maccarinelli
This fight isn’t going to be a rumble... it’s going to be an earthquake, and of such magnitude that it’ll probably break the Richter scale! We’ve got two wrecking balls for fighters but that’s not all, they can box a bit too – what a match-up!
Will Haye’s fast hands prove too much for Macarinelli? Some time ago, maybe, but since enrolling at Team Calzaghe, Macarinelli’s a much improved fighter. His defence is tighter, he’s more mobile than he’s ever been, and he’s probably as fit as is humanly possible, what with the Dickensian, work-house regime that Enzo Calzaghe employs, and with great success too. Haye throws good, fast combinations that, if connecting, will knock a rhinoceros out, but will his shots land cleanly? Knowing how hard Haye hits you can be sure Team Calzaghe will have spent some time on gearing up Macarinelli for not getting hit, and given Macarinelli’s steady improvement it’s not too difficult to imagine him having considerable success in this aspect of the fight. Nevertheless, Haye’s hands are undoubtedly fast and he may only need to land one clean shot to put Maccarinelli in an irrecoverable state, if not immediately unconscious. Macarinelli’s alertness and concentration on not being caught will need to be like that of the F.B.I’s most wanted.
Haye’s fast hands and power, and Macarinelli’s defence are obviously not the only things to consider in this fight however... what about Macarinelli’s offence and Haye’s defence? Macarinelli’s punching power has even been academically researched at Swansea University and their conclusion – GOOOODNIGHT! Credit to Haye in demonstrating that he can be hurt and come back to win but coming back to win if Macarinelli hits him clean will not be an option. And let’s not forget, Macarinelli’s power is not the only weapon is his arsenal. Big Mac’s jab is fast and far-reaching, and his punch accuracy and speed has become very well developed indeed, and this coupled with his improving mobility and his renowned power, makes him an exceedingly dangerous threat to any cruiserweight, or heavyweight for that matter. And given Haye’s, strange for a boxer, habit of keeping his hands low, it’s not inconceivable to see Macarinelli having the greater likelihood of landing, especially when you consider the fact that Haye doesn’t have the upper body movement that could enable him to get off lightly with the low hands style – the man gets caught. Also, Haye has often been in fights where he’s been the clearly stronger man, where he’s been able to quickly establish himself as the alpha male, but with Macarinelli he’s evenly matched and this may well be an unwelcome surprise for Haye.
It’s a safe bet that these two fighters will be well-conditioned and will have the stamina to go the distance but it’s very unlikely that this will be the case – the fight fans know of both Haye’s and Macarinelli’s penchant for knockouts and will be expecting one, and with their punching power, whether they’re seeking a knockout or not, they will not disappoint. Despite the fight not going the distance, pace will probably be a significant factor in this bout. Knowing Haye likes to operate at his own, steady pace, the more naturally busy Macarinelli will seek to take him out of this comfort zone in an attempt to discover a ‘low-energy’ Haye which may or may not transpire, but it’ll certainly be interesting to see what happens.
    The Fight
Macarinelli’s mobility and good jab will prove problematic for Haye, not allowing him to get close enough, or comfortable enough, to unleash those spectacularly fast and powerful combinations. Haye will be forced into trying to land the right hand from afar but Macarinelli’s tight defence and impressive movement for a big guy will see that Haye doesn’t make firm contact. Macarinelli, in the interim, will be winning the war of points and this will begin to dishearten Haye whom feels frustrated because he knows he’s got the tools to stop Macarinelli, but he just can’t get them out of the box. This frustration coupled with the frantic pace will lessen the mobility of the already lesser mobile Haye, prompting Macarinelli to enter the final furlong, bring out the big guns, and look for the stoppage. This, however, is where it’ll be most dangerous for Macarinelli, because when he sets about his finishing salvo, Haye can get his tools out and go to work, if he’s got anything left that is - predicting when is the right time to take Haye out will be the biggest hurdle for Macarinelli to get over. Nevertheless, with wrecking balls, you can never be absolutely certain which way it’s going to go – this is what makes this fight a case of ‘who will be the last man standing?’.
What’s the prediction? This will be one ‘Big Mac’ that Haye might get his teeth into, but will not be able to finish - it’s David to not be making hay, but to be sleeping on it in round eight. Roll on ‘The Battle of Britain’!

Haye is a load of rubbish. Enzo will box his ears off.
