I'm interested to see what Kess does next. Mikkel fought a great fight with Joe C and is clearly the future of the SMWD. Power and technical skills to boot...
Any word on his next move? Nothing on Boxrec and haven't even heard whispers![]()

"There's nothing special about him." -Sergiy Dzinziruk
i hope he has a good year , he's a good guy and is the future of the super middleweights
Yeah, I hope he doesn't lay off too long. I'd like to see him get right back in the mix, though it's been almost 4 months and not anything on the radar. What's he waiting for? Maybe he wants to make sure his hand is fully healed; as didn't he hurt it against Joe?
Power? i personally don tthink Kessler is any kind of puncher at top level.
Just found this little snippet suggesting Kessler's promoter is looking for a rematch with Anthony Mundine...
I would very much enjoy seeing this fight.. Hopefully to watch Kess destory Mundine... I FEEL like I should be patriotic and back my home town man in Mundine, but i'm not a fan of him... And Kess deserves to be back on top of this division..
Article as follows..
Mikkel Kessler is coming off a loss to Joe Calzaghe and his promoter called out Anthony Mundine this week. A rematch between the two would easily be the biggest fight in the super middle weight division since Joe Calzaghe has moved up to the light heavy weight division to challenge Bernard Hopkins. Kessler won the first match against Mundine rather easily scoring a wide unanimous decision.
Here are some reasons why the rematch would be very different:
1. Kessler is coming off a loss, his first of his career. He will lack some confidence in the early rounds against Mundine.
2. Mundine has improved since fighting Kessler last time, destroying two highly rated fighters in Danny Green and Sam Soliman.
3. In the first match between the two Mundine would not let his hands go. When he did he had Kessler in trouble, especially in the opening four rounds and the last round.
4. The only factor I see in Kesslers favour is that he will be more hungry after coming off a loss. If he is I think he could win a wide unanimous decision again.
Kessler is obviously the favourite in this fight and should win if every thing goes to plan. But he is taking on his toughest test in the division and that is straight after loosing to Calzaghe. Mundine is an improving fighter and he has great hand speed and power and world class defence. This fight is going to be very close, both can win and it will likely occur in Australia.

Although Mundine is really wanting Calzaghe... although I doubt he's ever going to get that shot unless he starts fighting some f'n big names instead of taking pissweak no name fights....

SYDNEY, Australia (AP) - Anthony Mundine is already thinking ahead of his WBA super middleweight title defense against Nader Hamdan, saying he wants a shot at unbeaten Super Champion Joe Calzaghe next.
The flamboyant and outspoken Australian boxer puts his world title on the line Wednesday for the third time at the Sydney Entertainment Center
against 34-year-old Hamdan, who he has known for 20 years and described as his «Muslim brother» when the bout was announced in December.
And he expects to «do the job» against Hamden, who has won 40 of his 45 professional fights including 18 by knockout.
«I want to go out there and make a statement so he had better be ready for a beating,» the 32-year-old Mundine said. «I've respected him for a long time but when I step into that ring I don't care who my opponent is.
Mundine is 30-3 since turning his back on a professional rugby league career to follow in the footsteps of his boxer father, Tony Mundine.
It's his second defense since overcoming an eye infection that caused his to lose sight temporarily in his left eye and sidelined him for six months.
In his first, he knocked down Argentina's Jose Alberto Clavero in a match heavily criticized for being so lopsided.
Even so, he's using it as a stepping stone for a shot at Calzaghe, who is unbeaten in 44 fights and unified the WBA, WBC and WBO belts when he beat Denmark's Mikkel Kessler last year to be elevated to Super Champion status.
Last July, Mundine won the belt vacated by Kessler when the Dane unified the WBA and WBC titles.
With Calzaghe expected to move up to light heavyweight for a bout with Bernard Hopkins, Mundine thought he might have a better chance of setting up a fight with middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik or Jermain Taylor.
«I want Calzaghe,» Mundine said Tuesday, listing his priorities. Failing that, he was happy to go down a weight or have one of the middleweights step up.
«There's fights out there for me. I just want to continue to win and continue to reign,» he said. «There's not that many big names out there. When they finish fighting each other they need some fresh meat.
Hamden, who turned to boxing while in juvenile detention for trying to take a handgun from a police officer in a street skirmish, has no problem being the underdog.
«I know I've been written off. I understand that,» he said. «It suits me being the underdog.

I might try to break the situation with Kessler down as well as I can:
1. After losing to Calzaghe, he had surgery in his hand, and then went on a long vacation in Thailand along with his dad.
2. He is now back from vacation, and is in the process of starting training (seriously) again.
3. He is repeatedly having discussions with HBO, whom he seem to put his faith in. Apparently there was an offer for Winky Wright to fight him this spring, but Winky declined it. Now the talk seem to revolve mostly about Jermain Taylor - DiBella has been quoted in the Danish press, claiming hey might be interested in this - but obviously that fight would not occur before, say, October. In that case he might have a tune up on a HBO undercard during the spring. No word about possible opponents though.
4. Kessler's promoter has repeatedly mentioned his interest in a rematch with Mundine. Just the other day he was calling for WBA to install Kessler as official mandatory for Mundine (which, btw, I think is a fair suggestion - after all he Kessler imo did not 'vacate' the WBA title, as mentioned in another article in this thread, and Mundine never really won his title).
The general problem is that Kessler does not seem to want to build his name again. He feels he is ready for the big money, and/or the title fights straight away. But he does not - at the moment - have the name, title or money to back his claims up, and he might end up as a classic case of high risk/low reward.
a kessler taylor fight would be a great way for both fighters to jump back at the saddle again. I think it would be a great fight. Good post

Yeah I would like to see Kessler Taylor as well... I'm actually a big Kess fan.. he's a good guy and love his fights... Anyway, the main reason I would want him to come out and woop The Man's ass is that it would probably be in Australia as mentioned, and I will have a chance at getting tickets... It would be my first big time fighter that i've seen live...
