Default ROY JONES prime) VS SUGAR RAY LEONARD prime) VS SUGAR RAY ROBINSON prime

guys i think jones at middle had the total package. he to me seemed to have the best boxing skill, reflexes, speed, awesome power. and the thing about jones was he could hit you at will. you see the other boxers that are around and the ones from the past non could hit you at will like jones could. i know some of you are saying jones got knocked out by traver and johnson. jones aged over night agaisnt those fighters, after he moved up to heavy, he would have made them look silly in his prime. another thing you will notice about jones is that he was not as strong. it was like he lost all his strenght coming back down.

you will also find when watching jones fights is that the guys that say they are going to bully him and try and and turn it in to a war. find out fist hand that jones had awesome power. when they felt some of jones power thay decide lets just try and box.

i just wanted to know your guys views on the out come of these fights

roy jones vs leonard both prime 160lbs. jones by points or late stoppage

roy jones vs robinson both prime 160lbs jones by points

I loved Ray Leonard, but he is a 70's guy.
RJjr proves they make em better in the 90's.
Roy would slaughter my buddy. Prime.

Hard to say. Jones is bigger than the others. The early Jones was amazing. Incredible. More so than the others. But both Sugars got better, as they fought tough opposition and learnt, whereas Jones got a little worse as he got by on speed and reflexes rather than craft. This is why he ended up getting battered by a fighter several leagues below him.

I'll go with Lenoard purely because I grew up watching him.

    All three beat Marciano though

When Robinson was coming up it wasn't uncommon to have fifty or sixty fights under your belt before becoming a titlei st. Ray Robinson was a better fighter and used leverage to his advantage and he fought everyone in "The Golden Age of Boxing" Ray Leonard was a golden boy who a brought up carefully and still managed t outshine everyone. Roy Jones, what can you say about a man with superior skills and no one to use them on. No one was getting on line to fight Roy and Roy has to be admired because he is his own man. The results, Roy Jones KO 12 Ray Leonard. Ray Robinson UD 15Rd's over Roy Jones. Experience and the ability to be great for more than one decade.

Well since "Boxing" evolves, and Ray Robinson was great not just because of his skill, but because the others who fought back then, couldn't do what he did. Move and throw and leverage themselves like he did, by the time Roy came around, many people were doing what Robinson was doing, but just as the basics, since Boxing evolved, and Ali had already come around and people were emulating him, and Roy beat this "evolved" generation for over 10 years. At Middleweight, hmm.. Roy beats Leonard at Middleweight. And then Roy beats Robinson, Robinson comes back in a rematch and beats Roy Jones Jr. via decision, and then they draw in the 3rd fight. I'm saying this, because in both their eras, no one had seen anyone like them

Nobody knows how good this Roy Jones guy was at Middleweight because he didn't fight anybody!

Roy Jones wasn't even the best Middleweight when he was at Middleweight, Gerald McClellan was. Roy Jones was never ranked as the best Middleweight in the world.

roy jones in his prime never got pressured like hearns, duran pressured leonard or basileo pressured robinson its hard to say how roy with his tremendous skills would fare against all time greats such as robinson and leonard since his prime consisted of dominating b grade opponents

Sugar Ray Leonard was the best of the lot.

He gets put behind Robinson because he is the 2nd Sugar, but I'm willing to bet, if he had fought in the 1940's & 50's, we would all be saying he is the greatest.

Leonard had everything in his prime. He could brawl, box, punch, he had a great chin, phenomenal speed & tremendous footwork.

    Good job T.!
Not that many people know about the career of Mark Marciano.
The light middleweight who compiled a stunning 3-4 record.

I had picked Ray Robinson because even as his career was sliding down hill in his last days as Champion, his gift was grit and let's not forget, not too many people fought as often and learned their craft that way. Today guys have special exercises coaches and dietitians, well you get the picture. Besides, if you didn't know boxing, there wouldn't be so many examples being analyzed by you all because it's the variety that keeps you on your toes and even when I don't post, I f*****g enjoy how you debate.
