    Default Awesome Andrade interview

Just read this awesome interview and thought it would only be fair to share: Librado Andrade – A Man with No Plan; and that’s a Good Thing

I've got even bigger respect for Andrade now - he really is a humble man, and exciting in the ring to boot.

I love how he points to his brother being a far superior fighter - even if I disagree strongly.

And I love the quotes about Kessler - talk about being respectful in defeat!

"“He was smoking,” said Andrade. “He was smoking me. And it wasn’t his hands or his power, it was his footwork. I saw him go one direction, turn, and then go in another direction where I totally couldn’t adjust." and

"A year later, what would he do differently against Kessler?

“I don’t know,” he admits. “At least I’d like to win one round. That would be my first goal because man, Kessler was so fast that day.”

Oh, and this one as well:
I never watch fights of my opponents and I’m really not a boxing fan,” he said. “Occasionally I go to fights when they invite me or when Golden Boy brings me to a fight and stuff like that, but I’m not a boxing fan. I do it because this is the way I live and this is what I’ve been doing for so long. Every time I see fights with my opponents, I always look at the good things they do, and then I start placing them in my fight and I say ‘what if he does that to me?’ (Laughs) So I hate watching them fight.”

I for one will be rooting for Librado on saturday. Good luck. Take that robotic German out in a mean way.

What a fucken GREAT read... One of the best interviews I've read in a while. I loved it.
    I sent you some Rep.

I had the pleasure of seeing both Andrade and Enrique fight. Matter a fact I was there that day at the Olympic Auditorium when Enrique lost his 1st fight the fight that Andrade talks about. Enrique was wining and had already dropped Cruz but he got over confident and got caught by a punch. Both very humble guys and really down to earth.

For those of you who haven't seen Andrades brother fight you gotta watch his rematch fight vs. McKart from last year...
It was a candidate for FOTY.... 4 knockdowns in 5 rounds back and forth action all the way through.

Thanks Mick, I'd figure you'd like it as well.

I didnt know you went to that fight. Mad props for that!

You know, I didnt really know much of Librado (outside the ring at least) before the Kessler figth, but the way he handled himself there... Holy shit, what a gentleman! He managed to be quiet, humble, respectful and sympathetic all the way through the build up and press things - but at the same time sublety letting everyone know that he was, indeed, coming to fight. And he certainly was. He was outclassed, but he kept going on, kept coming forward. And, you know, I may be biased in this, but one of my favorite boxing moments of 2007 was when Kessler and Andrade 'hugged' at the beginning of the 12. round. That was as much of a show of mutual respect, I've ever seen in a boxing ring.

If Team Palle get their act together and puts on cards in the future, I'd love to see Andrade in Denmark again. He would be given a hero's welcome! Also I'm not sure Andrade really has that oomph-factor that can make him a star - neither when it comes to his boxing abilities or his personality - but he really ought to be everyone's 2nd favorite SMW.

As for his fight against Stieglitz? Well, I've only really seen Stieglitz fight against Berrio, but nothing there seemed to suggest that Andrade cannot win this fight. [Does anyone think or know that Stieglitz should not be judged by the Berrio-fights, or am I making fair judgments here?]. Should he win the eliminator, then I still think Bute is too big a mouthful. Andrade will make it interesting - as he did against Kessler - but Bute will probably manage to box it home to a decision. Unfortunately, because I wish for that family all the best.
