Default Did this bother anyone else?

I just finished watching the Foreman/Roman match which was on Versus this past thursday. The announcers made a big deal out of the fact that Foreman is studying to be a rabbi. While I think that's admirable, why did he have a guy wearing Hell's Angels colors carrying his belt into the ring? Seems a little strange to me. Boxing has enough crooks and low lifes without involving motorcycle gangs. I thought we were all in favor of cleaning up the sport.

I must have missed that on the RBR.I thought at first you were going to mention Wally Matthews redundant Mention of Foremans studies. He actually proposed that Foreman was not willing to inflict pain on his opponent due to the teachings and therefore he only had the 8 KO's...........Huh?

Hells Angels as belt Carriers and represenatives.....there has to be a joke there somewhere

I think it's Foreman's expression of the Yen Yang symbol like the joker's helmet in the movie full metal jacket (the peace sign and "born to kill"). But that doesn't bother me at all.

What bother pisses me off though is, he's using his "rabbi" excuse. One of the commentator said the reason Foreman's KO percentage is so low because his religion forbid him to seriously hurt someone.

    I think that's bull!

No, I am in favour of having more 'sickle gangs, crooks, pimps, thieves and whores in boxing. Makes it much more interesting and fun.

Plus you could also argue that rabbis, priests, imams and the like are equally as lowlife as a biker?
If God wanted us to be vegetarians, why are animals made of meat ?

That is actually a solid point.

I think it is a legitimate point. He is studying to be a rabbi. He's not supposed to harm another human. And if you look at his KO% now compared to early in his career (He's taken up the Rabbi studies in the last 5 years) There is a big difference.

Even if there is some truth to that, it's a horrible mentality for him to have if he plans to succeed in the sport. What if someone has him hurt when he steps up? How about someone who will consistently hit him with good shots.. Of course he'll do whatever he needs to do to win in that case. You can only take the liberty of dolling out a measured dose against a fighter who clearly is inferior to you. Foreman doesn't look that good to me, he can't toy with people like that forever. Not only that if it were true every single opponent he faces would have no respect for his offence and would take every risk to land on him and rough him up.

It's also an incredibly feeble attempt at changing his behaviour.

I mean if your religion says something is wrong then you stop doing it not just tone it down a bit

It's like a rapist who finds Jesus and as a result commits to ending his violent acts and limiting himself to merely flashing and public wanking

I dont buy It.Talk about a conflicted state of mind.I mean, harm is harm.Anytime you punch someone in the mouth It's Inflicting pain.Last Thursday his head was doing as much damage as His MIA right hand was doing though. The Commentator Matthews was bringing that Relation to religion and being passive up as a point and Charles was actually laughing at him.

Man it really annoys me when gangs and even religious groups are dragged into it.
That guy from Croydon...whats his face....um...Mark....Mark Kaylor.
I don't know if he was a neo nazi himself or if he was merely followed by them, but it really made me hate him.
