Just sparred a guy with a lot more expierience than me and a good few kilos on me.
I'm swollen up nastily....
He couldn't put me down, which is little consolation really.
Very annoyed right now.

Never mind mate you can't beat everyone straight away. Just a reminder you still have a little ways to go.
On the bright side, if he was a lot better than you it shows that improvement is possible as he managed it.
You'll be where he is now in a couple years no doubt
Kick his nutz next time. Kiddin'.
That means he's a good sparring partner bro. Difinitely you can benefit from guys like him.
That's how I feel almost everytime I spar![]()
However, my worst beating and greatest success came on the same day a two weeks ago.
You know this Donny, so I'm just reminding you of what you already know to make yourself feel better. Size and weight can make a huge difference. I don't know if you find this to be true, but for me with somebody even 10kg lighter, I can give them my body all day and they need to hit me with the perfect punch to hurt me,and they feel my body shots much more than somebody my own size or bigger. Then they start dropping the hands, then you go upstairs. It's so much easier on a smaller guy.
If you weren't good, he probably wouldn't have bothered to lay a beating on you. I take the worse of it from people who are better, but not THAT much better than me. The guys who are miles ahead of me are usually kinder because they aren't trying to prove anything. So take the beating as a compliment.
Oh don't get me wrong man...I'm not annoyed because someone got the better of me....I like Archie Moore's expression best "I'd prefer to lose in a good fight than win a bad fight."
I'm annoyed that I let it happen, I could have done a lot so so much better and didn't.
Serious review needed.

the positive is that you know you can do better, you know you didn't stick to a plan. Next time make a conscious effort to box smart.![]()
Back in karate class, I had a serious problem with not being aggresive enough.
Another thing I've found is you can't always be afraid of being hit (don't know if that was a problem of yours or not, but it has helped me in the past). Don't be scared to hit him, even if it means you may get hit.
Ayyyy,
It happens. In one of my most imbarassing moments at the gym, I was sparing an guy who was my size but little experience. I had over 30 amatuer fights already under my belt. I was cocky, trying to make him look silly... A girl I was dating had come to watch me spar. Little fucker busted my nose. I still have a slight inconsistancy on the right of my nose cuz of the little bastard.
Shit happens.

I took a beatdown here.
He's a lot bigger more expierience, sparring him before I know I can hang with him pretty well.
For whatever stupid reasn I decided to box on the back foot, ring got cut offf, massive hook swelled up my eye.
I had difficulty seeing and landed very little in return, while getting my face marked up pretty good.
All I had to do was walk forward, with my guard up and I was inside, where I can own him!
Stupid!

True, I just have to get back into the habit of going forward trying to hurt guys.
I kno that sounds silly, but I know thats what I'm doing wrong. I'm naturally durable and I have an aptitude for body punching, so I need to practise that and get back into it.
True Scrap, thats one way to look at it.
Thanks, I'm gonna be better because of this I know it.
