I often see a good hand full of hot chicks at the gym I have a 24hour fitness membership by the way lol.

but its rather hard to approach them for they are often on the cardio machines and often times they have their IPOD on the whole time.

If I were you mate I wouldn't approach a girl and immediatly compliment her while at the gym. In that location, the people in attendance are obviously very concious of their image.

So, complimenting them will immediatly triger their suspiscions and they will know they are being approached.

I think the best thing to do is spark a friendly relationship, where you say "hello, goodbye" at first.
This will lead to conversations in the future and from there you could establish common ground and also be introduced to other ladies.
