It was on a Monday. The casinos thought that people would book hotel rooms and thus gamble for the whole weekend if the put it on a monday.

yeah thats pretty strange, glad it didn't catch on though, I like the few cans while watching fights and it wouldnt be the same if you'd to get up for work the next morning

I am sure it was Sunday morning when I watched it, it was supposed to start at 3am but it was something like 4.30am because Spinks wanted Tyson to re-glove and he punched a hole through the wall and Spinks got frightened and the rest was history. Or was that a myth and for another post?

The hole in the wall thing is true but I think it was before the Holmes fight, Steve Lott told me and sent me a picture of the damaged wall.

What happeend is after Mike had his gloves tied hed test the comfort by punching the dressing room walls, in this case the wall wasnt that thick and his fist went straight through

I wouldn't mind if we had completely random dates for fights, I hate missing fights because I'm getting drunk in some public park the night of a big fight.

I've read a Tyson interview on this before. It was before the Spinks fight it was after Spinks' manager came in Tyson's dressing room and demanded Tyson to have his hands re-wrapped and then re-gloved, Tyson was frustrated and put a hole in the wall.

Im telling you, Steve Lott was part of Mikes original management and it was before the Holmes fight

It might have been both and while I couldn't find the article that went into detail I found this from before the McBride fight where Tyson talks about it a little bit.

It was definitely on a Monday, back then big fights took place during the week. Hagler-Hearns, Hearns-Leonard, Tyson-Spinks, Leonard-Hearns II, Leonard-Duran III, all of these fights took place on a Monday. If I remember correctly fights also took place on a Thursday as well. Hollyfield-Douglas and Bowe-Hollyfield both took place on a Thursday.

No way I would have been allowed to stay up. It must have been Sunday.
