Hey Guys, just pointing out some extra precautions and things I do.
Not to educate anybody really, just to hear what special measures you guys take.

Vaseline
For facial protection.
Having used vaseline as a lubricant on my forehead and eyebrows, I found myself suffering from blocked pores and subsequebntly terribly oily spotty skin.
However, I still feel that vaseline, due to the lack of a good substitute is the best method of avoiding facial damage in sparring.
Regardless of large gloves or headguards, sometimes sparring will end in facial damage and in order to counteract this some grease is essntial.
However, as we are a forum, I feel we can benefit from one anothers viewpoints here.
Has anyone ever used anything different as a substitute?

Dettol
Multi purpose anti bacterial.
I feel that dilutable dettol is essential for any boxer. Initially if a boxer must deal with any cuts it is always helpful.

However, one use I have for dettol is eliminating foul odours from my training sneakers and my gloves.

Small Towel and bag for Gloves

I was once told that your gloves should be seen as both your tools and your weapons. If you have respect for your opponent you should care for your weapons. That means not leaving them lieing about on the floor, picking up bacteria and dirt which could be transfered into an oppponents wound etc.
It also means giving them a wipe between spars etc. Nobodty wants to spar a guy whos gloves are covered in someone elses blood/sweat/saliva.

Accidentally a month ago I left a nice pair of gloves I had in my bag with a wet towel. The towel transfered water into the glove's permeable skin and caused the hide to become soggy and the filling to seperate.
I always try to bring a bag for my gloves - even a plastic bag - to protect them.
