Ricky hatton lost a total of 12 stone in 2004?
He lost his own (in between fight bodyweight) in a year. I just stumbled across this fact and thought, is it any wonder he is already shot to fuck?
That's just an example of one year![]()

When he was preparing for the Tszyu match in 2005 I predicted a win for Tszyu and this was one of the main reasons behind my thinking. I knew that Tszyu wasn't the man he was 3 years previous but I knew he also kept himself in shape between all his fights after his humiliating defeat to Phillips. He said that he never wanted to feel like that again and that from then on he would make sure he was 100% prepared for every fight. He was almost 36 years old by then (old for a 140lb fighter) and he gave Hatton one hell of a fight. Could you really see Hatton still being at the top of his division when he's 36 if he keeps on putting 30lb + on between every fight because I certainly can't. I thought that he may have learned his lesson by now but I saw himthe other day presenting Oasis with some award and already he has piled on the pounds.
I wouldn't say he is "shot to fuck" just yet though but if he doesn't start taking care of his body between fights he certainly will be soon. A shame considering all he has done for british boxing over the last few years!
Thankfully hatton is smart enough to realise that turning 32/33 and doing what he does to his body in training in order to be fighting fit will be an impossibility.
Hatton has put on a good 40 odd pounds since the lazcano fight all of which will have to be lost by november!!

Why would you do that to yourself? If he kept a semi healthy diet and went for a few runs a week I don't see how it isn't possible for him to be at a comfortable weight all year round.
Yeah I never understood that either. Why not take a few days off from the pub in the off-season? All that extreme gain and loss is not only bad for his career but also for his life expectancy as a whole. Man after he retires he's gonna make Naz look skinny.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

He'd be a tub if that were the case, but if by natural body weight he means "drink beer, eat shit and do nothing" then yeah pf course it's going to be his natural weight.
He could spend some hours a week in the gym even when he hasnt got a fight lined up just to keep in shape, but when he knows he is fighting in November and he still puts the weigh on thats just stupid.
Hatton gains and loses a lot of weight between fights. Not as amuch as 12 stone but still more then a fighter should on a regular basis.
It makes the body weak and reflexes go before thier time, getting hit for a living already takes their toll but the up and down thing makes it worse.
Hatton as much as I like him has only a few years left in him if he chooses to stick around that long.
Gaining and losing that much weight (He usually does like 35-45lbs I believe) will take as much out of your body as a drug habit will
