No Not That One!!!


Matthew Hatton has confirmed that he will now be training at Bobby Rimmers gym in Stalybridge from now on. Matthew will be trained by primarily by Lee Beard and Bobby will oversee the younger Hatton's progress.

Matthew wanted to stress that in no way does this effect his working relationship with Kerry Kayes, Matthew is grateful for all the advice and help that Kerry has given him over the years and will continue to work with Kerry for the forseeable future to assist his conditioning and physical preparation.

After his defeat to Craig Watson on his older sibling's 'Homecoming' event earlier in May, Matthew felt that it was time for a change thus why the decision has been made.

He advised his fans that he is really excited about going to a new gym which has a lot of active fighters.Mathew Hatton has worked with Bobby at the Phoenix gym on previous occasions and is looking forward to training under Bobby again.

It will be interesting to see if this affects Big Hatton

I think the title is perfectly fine.
Matthew and Ricky always stress whatever one does the other follows so this could provide a window into rickys mind.

He only has a couple of 'half decent' fights left in him, why on earth would you want him to leave Billy at this stage?

For the same reason as I've stated the last 3 years.

A change in trainer could help;
1) His Longevity
2) His repuatation
and
3) His Record

12 stone, a stone is 14 lbs right? So he had to lose more then half his bodyweight? Really? I knew his habits were bad and he got big between fights but damn.

It was a total he lossed for SEPARATE fights i.e. 3 st one fight ....

I cant really understand what greater advantages it'll do by changing gym at this moment in time in his career unless it is to concentrate better without the publicity of his older brother"Ricky".It could be a good thing if thats the case!!!!We'll see sooner or later.He has always seemed to be overshadow in the present of the Hitman when they both training in the same gym so being apart might work wonders.

RICKY Hatton has cast fresh doubts on his future with trainer Billy Graham.

The Hyde Hitman says he has yet to make a decision on whether to stick with his long-time mentor for his November 22 fight with Paulie Malignaggi in Las Vegas. Brother Matthew has already left Graham's Denton gym, which means Ricky is now the only fighter left in the Preacher's stable.

And Ricky says he has yet to decide with whom he will work once he returns to training in late August for the showdown with New Yorker Malignaggi.

"I will sit down with Matthew and my dad and have a good chat about it," said Hatton, who was relaxing at the MEN Family Race Day at Haydock on Sunday.

"I will take my time and make a decision, and should be in a position to say something on it in a week or so.

"I have been on my stand-up tour and after-dinner speaking all over the place for the last few weeks, but obviously I heard about Matthew's decision."

Hatton intends to cut out the extra-curricular activities and knuckle down to some serious gym work ahead of the Malignaggi clash.

But Matthew's decision to leave Graham and establish himself in the Stalybridge gym of Bobby Rimmer, where he will be trained by former Graham assistant Lee Beard, has cast doubt on Ricky's relationship with Graham.

Rimmer used to help Graham train his boxers until the pair had a bitter row, Rimmer leaving and setting up his own gym in 2006.

Matthew's decision to leave means that Ricky would be training on his own in the gym, not a situation any boxer relishes, never mind a sociable character like the Hitman.

Matthew touched on that point in explaining his own decision to quit Graham's gym, following his defeat by Failsworth's Craig Watson for the Commonwealth welterweight title in May.

"Me and Ricky were training at separate times anyway, because I have been training with Lee , and there is only one ring in the gym," said the younger of the two brothers, who is expected to return to the ring in September.

Doubts over Hatton's relationship with Graham, who has trained him since he turned pro at 18 - 11 years ago - first surfaced after the defeat by Floyd Mayweather in December.

There had been friction between Graham and Hatton's agent Paul Speak in the build-up to the fight.

Hatton and his camp played down talk of a split, and Graham guided Hatton to victory in his homecoming fight against Juan Lazcano in May.

STEPHEN Foster junior's hopes of building on his defeat by WBO champion Alex Arthur has hit a setback because his next fight - on Saturday - has been shelved.

A hitch in TV scheduling has pulled the plug on the Birmingham show, headlined by the heavyweight clash between Audley Harrison and Martin Rogan and which also included Manchester's Denton Vassell.

Matt will always be in the shadow of Ricky but to be honest he has prob had more exposure and breaks because of being his brother.

as for Ricky Hatton stick with Graham and stop making excuses for apart from Mayweather what has been a $$succesfull$$ career.
